Saint John Before the Latin Gate - May 6
Memorial
6 May
About the Feast
Commemorates the attempted martyrdom of Saint John the Apostle in 95. John was bound and brought to Rome, Italy from Ephesus by the order of Domitian; the Senate condemned him to be taken to the Latin Gate and thrown in a cauldron of boiling oil. John stepped out of the cauldron without injury, and instead was exiled to Patmos.

Saint of the Day: May 6th - Saint John Before the Latin Gate.
Butler'sLivesoftheSaints A.D. 95.
When the two sons of Zebedee, James and John, strangers as yet to the mystery of the cross and the nature of Christ’s kingdom, had, by their mother Salome, besought our Lord to allot them the two first places in his kingdom, (implied by sitting at his right and left-hand,) he asked them whether they were disposed to drink of his cup, or, in other words, to suffer with him, in which case they should not fail to be considered in proportion to their pains and fidelity. The two disciples answered boldly in the affirmative, assuring their divine Master that they were ready to undergo anything for his sake. Our Lord, thereupon, foretold them that their sincerity should be brought to the trial, and that they should both be partakers of his cup of sufferings, and undergo bitter things for the honour and confirmation of the Christian religion. This was literally fulfilled in Saint James, on his being …More

From DA: "I am a practicing catholic. And I need to say something that's going to make a lot of people uncomfortable.
Nigeria, the Sahel, India, Syria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, hundreds of Christians have been murdered this year alone. Churches burned to the ground, pastors kidnapped and killed. Communities that have practiced their faith for centuries are being wiped out.
Pope Leo XIV has said almost nothing.
NO named condemnations, NO emergency visits, NO breaking of protocol, just quiet platitudes about dialogue and peace - directed at nobody in particular.
BUT the week Trump escalated the Iran war? Leo flew across continents, gave media interviews, posted viral messages and had three Cardinals appear on 60 minutes in what felt like a coordinated response. Vatican Report: "Sin… Does Not Consist in the Homosexuals’ Relationship…"

Today, Synod.va published the final report from Study Group 9 on theological criteria and synodal methodologies for discerning doctrinal, pastoral, and ethical questions. It is de facto on homosexuality.
The report rejects the term “controversial” and says such matters should be treated as “emerging” issues (page 6).
Repeatedly, it speaks of an alleged “paradigm shift” in how the Church interprets the teaching: “The commitment to practising the synodal nature of the Church implies the implementation of a ‘paradigm shift.’” (page 8)
The final report even analogizes present ecclesial disputes to the Jerusalem Council’s overturning of circumcision requirements.
It demands that synodal outcomes should not be predetermined by “pre-established formulas.” And: “The Church’s mission is not a matter of abstractly proclaiming and deductively applying principles...” (page 9)
The final report invents “the stability of a healthy affective relationship” in homosexual contexts as a positive …More

Next Vatican report: God is dead and we will take His place.

"A Religious died in the flower of her age in the embrace of the Lord. She had been remarkable for her tender devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. After her death St. Gertrude saw her, brilliant with a celestial light, kneeling before the Divine Master, whose glorified wounds appeared like lighted torches, from whence issued five flaming rays that pierced the five senses of the deceased. The countenance of the latter, however, was clouded by an expression of deep sadness. " Lord Jesus," cried the saint, " how comes it that whilst you thus illumine your servant, why does she not experience perfect joy?"

‘Pains of Purgatory — St. Magdalene de Pazzi and Sister Benedicta — St. Gertrude…’ – ‘Purgatory’ by Rev. Shouppe; 1929; Chapter XIX; p. 57-60

Chapter XIX ~ Pains of Purgatory — St. Magdalene de Pazzi and Sister Benedicta — St. Gertrude — Blessed Margaret Mary and Mother de Montoux.
We read in the Life of St. Magdalene de Pazzi that one of her sisters, named Maria-Benedicta, a Religious of eminent virtue, died in her arms. During her agony she saw a multitude of angels, which surrounded her with a joyful air, waiting until she should breathe forth her soul, that they might bear it to the Heavenly Jerusalem ; and at the moment she expired, the saint saw them receive the soul under the form of a dove, the head of which was of a golden hue, and disappear with her. Three hours later, watching and praying near the remains, Magdalene knew that the soul of the deceased was neither in Paradise nor Purgatory, but in a particular place where, without suffering any sensible pain, she was deprived of the sight of God.
The following day, whilst Mass was being celebrated for the soul of Maria-Benedicta, at the Sanctus Magdalene was again …More

Polish Nuncio Conferred Confirmation in the Roman Rite

On 2 May, the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, Antonio Filipazzi, conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Roman rite on 50 young people close to the Institute of the Good Shepherd in Poland.
The ceremony took place at the former Camaldolese church in Bielany, Warsaw.
Afterwards, a Mass was celebrated, with the nuncio assisting from the throne.
The Institute of the Good Shepherd has been working in the Archdiocese of Warsaw for 10 years.
Archbishop Filipazzi is a papal loyalist. He praised Pope Francis in 2025 as an "untiring shepherd of the universal Church" who devoted "all his energy to the Church and to all humanity".

Homosexual Activist Found Guilty of Pimping

On 29 April, the Canadian homosexual activist Jake Tucker, 39, was found guilty of multiple sex-trafficking and assault-related charges following a trial in Barrie, Ontario.
Tucker is in a homosexual "marriage" and produced/bought a baby girl via surrogacy.
In the past, he has organised homosexual events, drag nights, flag raising, and other local activist initiatives.
According to prosecutors, Tucker recruited, controlled and exploited two women for several years, arranging their prostitution and taking a share of the profits. He also used coercion, violence and drugs to maintain control.
The case began in 2022, when a woman reported to the police that Tucker had trafficked her for years. Investigators later identified a second alleged victim who made similar claims.
After the verdict, Tucker denied the allegations and said he plans to appeal, arguing that the women were lying and that the police investigation was flawed.
He is expected to return to court for sentencing and could face …More

Tried and found wanting: How Leo XIV chose heresy over the Church - LifeSite

Mon May 4, 2026 - 7:06 am EDTMon May 4, 2026 - 11:41 am EDT
(
LifeSiteNews) — Leo XIV has publicly rejected the teaching of the Catholic Church that capital punishment is legitimate under certain conditions.
This teaching, having been proposed for our belief by the universal and ordinary magisterium, must be believed by all Catholics. The denial of this doctrine constitutes heresy.
The implications of Leo XIV’s public profession of heresy deserve careful consideration.
Leo XIV’s position on capital punishment
On April 24, in a video address commemorating the 15th anniversary of the abolition of the death penalty in Illinois, Leo XIV said:
The Church teaches that “the death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person.”
The words within speech marks are from the text on capital punishment inserted into the Catechism of the Catholic Church in 2018 by Francis.
Speaking to journalists in a plane interview on April 27, Leo XIV reiterated …

Surely it's a heresy to recognise a public heretic as Pope as such recognition is an attack on the papacy itself.

Mike the Pike

Leo XIV publicly professed heresy both before and after his putative election by openly repudiating a doctrine proposed for our belief by the ordinary and universal magisterium of the Church.

So, what! The laity have no voice at all in changing dogma and traditional practices of the Catholic Church. Wrong is wrong even though everyone is doing it, and right is right even if no one is doing it.

Agreed! Democrats ARE brainwashed... Any Catholic voting democrat at any moment in their lives, needs to repent of all the babies murdered by the abortion democrat machine they voted for. Anyone who is for abortion is an enemy of God.

HOLY SMOKES. DOJ report just dropped a bombshell: The Biden DOJ aggressively targeted and harassed Christians, privately called them "CULTISTS" and sought out HARSH prison sentences for peaceful protests Even worse: They used the SPLC to do it! This is outright Christian persecution, right on American soil! LOCK UP everyone who carried this out. "That went beyond disagreement and moved to punishing Christians who held conservative religious beliefs in conflict with the administration's pro-choice gender ideology agenda."
"The report found the Biden DOJ brought multiple cases against pro-life activists, many of them Christians, under the FACE Act, the freedom of access to clinic entrances." "Email correspondence shows prosecutors privately mocked Christian pro-life views as culty and pursued more severe charges and harsher sentences for peaceful protests or pro-life defendants." "In contrast, following the Dobbs decision in 2022 that overturned Roe v. Wade, …More

✝️May 2nd - Saint of the Day: Saint Antoninus of Florence, Archbishop & Dominican Friar✝️
Florence had wealth, power, politics, status, and scandal. Then came Saint Antoninus. 🔥 A tiny Dominican friar with a giant soul, he became Archbishop of Florence and refused to live like a prince. He wore the Dominican habit, cared for plague victims, reformed corrupt clergy, challenged greed, and quietly helped the “hidden poor” who were too ashamed to beg. 🖤🤍 He was so wise that people called him the “Angel of Counsel.” Princes, priests, merchants, and ordinary Catholics came to him when life got morally messy. And his whole life can be summed up in one line: “To serve God is to reign.” 👑✝️ That hits different in a world obsessed with clout, comfort, and control. Saint Antoninus reminds us that real power is holiness. Real leadership is service. Real wealth is mercy. And real freedom begins when God gets the throne back. All’attività apostolica e agli incarichi di cui era gravato, unì un intenso studio e la realizzazione di opere che ebbero carattere giuridico-morale. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: New film highlights Jesuit scientist’s legacy

The recent screening of the film “Teilhard: Visionary Scientist” at the Vatican’s Filmoteca, then at the Jesuit Curia and Rome’s Pontifical Gregorian University, drew much applause and appreciation. The American filmmakers, Frank and Mary Frost, spoke to Vatican News about the film.
Paul Samasumo – Vatican City
Frank and Mary Frost’s two-hour film, “Teilhard: Visionary Scientist,” is about the life, scientific thought, and spiritual vision of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a French Jesuit priest who lived from 1881 to 1955.
The film is a compelling human story filled with drama, centred on this priest-palaeontologist and visionary thinker. It focuses on his lifelong struggle to reconcile evolutionary science with Catholic faith and theology.
What has it been like for you, the two of you and your team, bringing the film to special screenings, first of all, right within the Vatican, at the Jesuit General Curia Auditorium, and also at the Pontifical Gregorian University?
