Gaudi's Catechesis: "To Bring the Gospel to All"

"Gaudi, through his work, sought to bring the Gospel to everyone. For this reason, he conceived of the three porticos of the exterior of the church as a catechesis on the life of Jesus Christ, as a great Rosary, which is the prayer of ordinary people". This is how the Pope spoke of Barcelona's church of the Sagrada Familia, following its dedication, before the recitation of the Angelus. Moments after declaring the Church a minor basilica he described it as "a hymn of praise to God carved in stone", that its architect wanted as its protagonists the most humble and simple of people". Benedict XVI ended recalling that "in the silence of the home of Nazareth, Jesus taught us that the entire Church, by hearing and putting his word into practice, becomes his family". Blessed Maria Barbara of the Blessed Trinity raised to the honors of the altar yesterday in Porto Alegre, Brazil, who also dedicated her life to the poor and needy, was described by the Pope as a "woman of deep faith and ardent charity."
