Another Bishop Morris

Switzerland

In an Eastern Sunday Message, Bishop Markus Büchel of St. Gallen, Switzerland, has suggested that the topic of women’s ordination won’t be going away anytime soon. He called for alleged reforms in the Church: “We must search for steps that lead there,” Büchel said. “I could imagine that women’s diaconate could be such a step.” One has not been permitted to discuss women’s ordination for a good while – the bishop added, but: “We can’t afford this anymore.” On Monday, the Vatican dismissed the bishop of Toowoomba for having expressed similar views.

No Job Offer Since

USA

Many actors have suffered typecasting. But “Passion of Christ” star Jim Caviezel embraces the curse that has dried up the job offers. Jim sprang to worldwide attention in 2004. But despite grossing over $370-million in the US alone he has barely worked since. Speaking in a church, Jim said he felt “rejected in my own industry”. He also remembered that Mel Gibson gave him the job but later begged him not to take it. “He said, ‘You’ll never work in this town again!’” Jim recalled. “I told him, ‘We all have to embrace our crosses.’ But Jesus is as controversial now as he has ever been. Not much has changed in 2,000 years.”

Blessed John Paul II Seminary Opened

USA

The Archdiocese of Washington has announced the opening of Blessed John Paul II Seminary to help educate its burgeoning number of college and pre-theology seminarians. The archdiocese currently has 67 seminarians, 29 of whom are in college and pre-theology studies. Cardinal Donald Wuerl said: “With the new seminary in the archdiocese, the young men who have been inspired to be part of the new evangelization may begin their formation right here at home and be an integral part of the local Catholic community in Washington from the beginning.”

Meeting Was a Success

Vatican

The Vatican meeting of bloggers has been a great success by all accounts. Bloggers have basically agreed that "Yes, they understood us, they weren't trying to control us, and they were keen to co-operate with bloggers", Fr. Tim Finigan wrote yesterday on his blog. The meeting was hosted by the Pontifical Council for Culture. 150 bloggers from all around the world participated.

@ACL...yes, that is true...Our Dear Lady warned that a time would come when bishop would oppose bishop and cardinal against cardinal. We are truly living in extraordinary times!

@ Rope - I quite think that some "Overseers" (as they were called in the Greek Patristic Church) have lost the faith and are not Christian or Catholic at all. THey are just, as our Holy Father calls them, "career Bishops". Sad indeed, truely lamentable. For this Our Lady has been sent to Fatima and Lourdes to warn mankind and God's Church on earth to correct our errant ways....... Would that we …More

How sad for Our dear Blessed Mother and her Son, to witness to these clergy, (bishop of Gallens) and others who voiciferously speak out in favor of those things which the Church has Always held as an Impossibility . They are disregarding the Catholic faith and its teachings (not to mention the Holy Father). This must make Heaven filled with such sadness when "shepherds" of God's people are leading souls on the path to perdition, rather than saving them! Sometimes you just have to ask yourself, "do they not even think of the afterlife and God's judgement?" 🙏

@louella - Indeed, Jim Caviezel has had many an acting job, including playing the gay partner of another man! I rather think he has done it all, rather like Keith Ledger - poor fellow...... I quite think he needs a role more like this one in The Christ, rather than the others! Maybe, Jim needs to come to Europe instead of the USA......hummmm...... 🙂

God Bless Jim Caviezel. I hope he gets work soon. The film industry is the poorer without him. Can't someone give him an acting role?!
