The Gift of the Magi "The Gift of the Magi" is a short story by American writer O. Henry, first published in 1905. The story tells of a young husband and wife and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving, it has been popular for adaptation, especially for presentation at Christmas time. The plot and its twist ending are well known; the ending is generally considered an example of cosmic irony. The story was allegedly written at Pete's Tavern on Irving Place in New York City. The story was initially published in The New York Sunday World under the title "Gifts of the Magi" on December 10, 1905. It was first published in book form in the O. Henry collection The Four Million in April 1906. youtube.com/watch?v=eEYKlV0vkIs
News Kazakhstan has enacted a controversial law banning the dissemination of information deemed to promote “non-traditional sexual orientation”, drawing sharp criticism from international rights groups and comparisons to Russia’s notorious “gay propaganda” legislation. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the bill on 30 December, with the amendments taking effect on 1 January. The law covers media, education, advertising, cultural activities and online platforms, and applies broadly to any content accessible to minors. While same-sex relationships remain legal, the legislation effectively prohibits positive or neutral portrayals of LGBTQ+ identities. Violators face fines of up to 130,000 tenge (approximately £220), and repeat offences may result in up to ten days’ administrative detention. Officials claim the measure is intended to protect children from “harmful influences”, but critics argue it institutionalises censorship and discrimination. Human rights organisations, …

Raucous Rock Concert by a Priest: The priest David Michael Moses of the Archdiocese of Galveston–Houston concluded his talk at the neoconservative conference SEEK 2026 on January 1 by performing his rock song “Plot Twist.” The performance drew on pop-rock conventions. During the theatrics, Fr Moses invited attendees to rush the stage and took a selfie with the cheering crowd. He ended by performing “the worm,” a breakdancing move rooted in secular entertainment culture. SEEK 2026 drew more than 26,000 participants.
At the end of his talk at SEEK 2026, Father David Michael Moses encouraged attendees to run up to and gather in front of the stage as he belted out a rock song about living a Christian life. He took a selfie from the stage with the young people cheering behind him and ended his performance by doing “the worm” dance on the stage as the crowd went wild.
This is like the holy rollers, just pure emotionalism. When one follows feelings instead of conscience, this is what occurs, shallow romper room antics.

St. John the Baptist Contra Effeminacy A Voice Crying in the Wilderness: On the Helper Turned Snare Repent. For the order of creation has been inverted, and the curse still spreads. Hear again the sentence God pronounced—not softened, not explained away: “Because you have hearkened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, cursed is the ground because of you.” Because you listened. Adam was not condemned for appetite first, but for misplaced obedience. She was created as helper—adiutorium, not governor; crown, not commander; aid for the good, not guide against God. St. Augustine speaks plainly: > “The woman was given to the man as a helper, but by sin she became an occasion of his fall—not by nature, but by disorder.” (On Genesis, Against the Manichees) This is the tragedy: the helper became a liability, not by her existence, but because Adam surrendered his post. He allowed the order of creation to turn against itself. St. John Chrysostom declares: …More
