ACL - Indeed, some "higher authorities" are problematic. The Church might as well scrapped the N.O. Mass for Christ's sake (no pun intended).

Blackchallice - Oh quite! I was greatly encouraged at the cancellation of the "western mass" in Austria (a most dreadful thing indeed!). So, yes! My faith in the heirarchy is somewhat restored - however, this was only after widespread outrage and an international petition signed! The "higher authority" might just be the problem.....

One can discern the "mind of the Vatican" by carefully watching, not what they say, but what they do. We have a recent example(less than 2 weeks ago) of a lack of Papal authrority in the following story. Again, could one possibly imagine Sts Peter or Paul acting in such a way?
