Thanks, Ira.

As you know, ours is a world filled with all kinds of things and events that some souls may find unpleasant, disagreeable, uncomfortable and even horrendous. In my videos, I avoid the horrendous but do post videos (some of my own creation) that represent what is called, thinking outside the box.

There are posters at Gloria who specialize in sacred music, some in news items about the pope, some in the actions of militant homosexuals or militant abortionists. To me, it seems that those and other stories are repeated over and over again.
🤒

Some prefer uploading a video about the pope's vacation, the pope's first twitter, the pope praying somewhere etc., etc., etc. I personally find most (not all) of these kinds of videos to be boring. Now, if you find a story that the pope is forming an Apostolic Commission to investigate and then punish bishops who have been found guilty of either harboring or reassigning criminal predatory priests, let me know.

🙄

Personally, I look for videos that are a bit different, something off the beaten track. Something that is usually meant to entertain (Fun videos) but, at the same time, I often try to incorporate a message as well. If I have to make a choice, however, I will prefer the entertaining video before the “message” video. That's just the way I roll.

😎

We undoubtedly live in a vale of tears that is filled with disappointments, pain, grief and all manner of sorrows. I personally believe that it is by means of humor that our minds and hearts can, if even for a short time, be lifted from this miserable world and be given some relief simply by smiling.

Why the Government Should Care About Pornography
Official biography released by the Holy See
London, England, Jul 13, 2011 / 03:10 am (CNA).- After a long legal battle, abortion statistics released by the British government show a “shocking level of discrimination” against the disabled, pro-life groups said.
“Between 2001 and 2010, the number of abortions on the ground of disability rose by one-third, 10 times that of abortions generally. It is clear that legal abortion is a system which discriminates, fatally, against the disabled,” commented Anthony Ozmic, the communications director of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children.
The British Department of Health has released the numbers, gestational ages and types of disabilities of babies aborted between 2002 and 2010. In 2010, 482 babies with Down’s syndrome were aborted.
Sixty-six of the late abortions in 2010 were linked to nervous system problems such as spina bifida. No late-term abortions were carried out for cleft lip and palate, but seven were carried out before the legal limit of 24 weeks for this reason, the BBC reports.
Another 29 late abortions were carried out for chromosomal problems, including 10 for Down’s syndrome and 10 for Edward’s syndrome.
The ProLife Alliance characterized the effort to release the statistics as a “David and Goliath legal battle.” Its freedom of information request in February 2005 took six years to fulfill.
The alliance said that it is opposed to all abortion, but it added that the termination of babies who could survive outside the womb is “always particularly horrifying.”
“We have always argued that if these abortions are permitted under law, there should be no attempt whatsoever to hide details of the numbers or justifications,” the organization said July 4.
“(T)his is a great victory for transparency and freedom of speech and we are delighted that full information about the justification for late abortions is now being made available in the same detail as it was in 2001,” said Julia Millington, spokeswoman for the ProLife Alliance.
Her organization thanked former MP Ann Widdecombe and Prof. Stuart Campbell, who gave expert evidence in court on the organization’s behalf.
Until 2003 the British Department of Health published statistics on all late abortions. Its 2002 figures sparked an outcry when they showed one abortion targeted a baby with a cleft lip and palate, an easily reparable problem.
Pro-life groups said the rules were being flouted to weed out “less than perfect babies.” Anglican cleric Rev. Joanna Jepson, who was born with a jaw deformity, filed a complaint which resulted in a police investigation into whether the abortion was illegal.
Abortion on “social” grounds is legal only in the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. The 1967 Abortion Act, which applies to Scotland and England and Wales, makes it legal to abort an unborn child up to birth if there is a substantial risk of “serious” physical or mental abnormality.
One of the doctors involved in the 2002 cleft palate abortion was identified by journalists in 2004 using public information, causing concerns that the identity of the patient could also be revealed.
The Health Department in 2003 decided no longer to reveal detailed information on late abortions where procedures involving certain medical conditions numbered less than 10.

Archbishop Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization

Vatican City, Jul 12, 2011 / 02:39 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- The Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelization unveiled a new project today to re-evangelize some of Europe’s major cities.
“The goal is simple: to give a sign of unity among the diverse dioceses present in the largest European cities that have been particularly affected by secularization,” wrote Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the council’s president, in the July 12 edition of the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano.

Archbishop Fisichella chaired a summit of bishops from a range of European cities who met at the Vatican July 11 to discuss the proposed project.
The bishops came from Barcelona, Budapest, Brussels, Cologne, Dublin, Lisbon, Liverpool, Paris, Turin, Warsaw and Vienna. The scheme is being described as a “metropolitan project.”
“At the moment, the initiative is limited to some of the larger European dioceses in order to more concretely test its effectiveness,” said Archbishop Fisichella, suggesting that it could be rolled out in other cities around the globe if it is found to be successful.
The initiative will take place in Lent 2012 and will be based at each city’s cathedral, which will host a range of activities.
Events planned thus far are: a continual reading of the Gospel, the local bishop teaching young people, families and those converting to Catholicism, the promotion of confession, and a charitable initiative of some form. Archbishop Fisichella also mentioned an event that will be both spiritual and cultural in character, such as reading from the Confessions of St. Augustine.
“These initiatives will begin in the cathedral because of its important symbolic significance, but the intention is to extend them to the parishes of the dioceses for a more direct impact in the territory,” he said.
According to Archbishop Fisichella, the metropolitan missions will be aimed at those who live the faith but often do so in a way that “lacks an awareness of how this can infuse their lifestyle.” The missions also hope to engage those who are far from the faith, but are “nonetheless attracted by the person of Jesus Christ.”

The Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization was established in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI. He said he wanted it to “promote a renewed evangelization” in traditionally Christian countries which are living through a “progressive secularization of society and a sort of ‘eclipse of the sense of God.’”
