At today’s presentation of the sexual psychology document Una caro. Elogio della monogamia, Tucho Fernández linked celibacy with abuse, reports German agency KNA. A priest cannot expect to fill his feelings of loneliness with another person, he said, noting that this can give rise to abuse: "I have to resolve my feelings of emptiness, loneliness, and psychological problems in other ways." For decades, many experts have pointed out that there is no evidence that celibate men are more likely to be pedophiles than the general male population. Psychologists and criminologists also emphasize that celibacy itself does not increase the likelihood of pedophilic tendencies [but how about porn?]. Furthermore: Data from Germany indicate that the extent of sexual abuse in Protestant and Catholic institutions is comparable. #newsCsohvpenln
(NewsNation) — Ukraine and the United States have agreed to a deal to end the four-year war with Russia, with some details still to be worked out, a U.S. official confirmed to NewsNation early Tuesday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will head to Washington, D.C., to finalize the agreement at the “earliest suitable date” this month, Ukrainian national security adviser Rustem Umerov announced. “Our delegations reached a common understanding on the core terms of the agreement discussed in Geneva,” Umerov said on social media. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said there were “a few delicate, but not insurmountable, details” left to work out — and they will require “further talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the United States.” The news comes as U.S. officials, led by Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, continue to meet with Russian representatives in Abu Dhabi. “The talks are going well, and we remain optimistic. Secretary Driscoll is closely synchronized with the White …
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has demanded that Poland recognize same-sex “marriage.” In a November 25 ruling, the ECtHR announced that Poland must legally acknowledge so-called same-sex “marriages” performed in another European Union country, as part of the latest push to embed the LGBT ideology in Polish culture. “A Member State has the obligation to recognise a marriage between two Union citizens of the same sex that has been lawfully concluded in another Member State where they have exercised their freedom to move and reside,” the ruling reads. The ruling is in response to a 2018 case of two men who were civilly “married” in Berlin, Germany, and wished to return to Poland. Upon their return, Poland refused to recognize the same-sex “marriage,” prompting the men to seek legal action. Poland’s national law prohibits same-sex “marriage,” defining marriage as a union exclusively between a man and a woman. “Marriage, being a union of a man and a woman, as well as the …
Tucho Fernández, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, released on November 25 the document on monogamy, titled ‘Una caro. Elogio della monogamia’. This 156-paragraph, 40-page text essentially compiles what has been said throughout history about matrimony, from the Book of Genesis and the Church Fathers to Popes, philosophers, pagan cultures, and poets. For example, Fernández quotes Hindu sources such as the Manusmṛti, the Bhagavata Purana and the Thirukkural to affirm the value of monogamy. The document was written after discussions with African Bishops on polygamy and also on polyamorous relations, growing in the West. During the press conference, Tucho couldn’t help himself but make a pro-homosexual “joke”. He said that about how 40 years ago, people used to say that Romans had a wife, but they also had another woman and another man. In the document itself, Tucho does not appear to have committed one of his usual doctrinal errors, nor does he seem to have granted …More
The (rhetorical) question needs to be posed: is the Catholic Church now erotic-fixated or does it remain Christocentric? Our Lord constantly represented the Judaic scriptures, fulfilling them with His exemplification of them in Word and deed. He never quoted any other texts although, given the cultural pool His land was at the time, He likely would have heard about at least some of them. Nor did He spend any time obsessed by 'human sexuality'. Tucho should resign or be forced to do so if we have a pontiff worthy of the name.

Leo XIV has released today two documents a new General Regulation of the Roman Curia and a Personnel Regulation about recruitment. They enter into force on 1 January 2026 for a five-year ad experimentum period. The Personnel Regulation requires Vatican employees to uphold exemplary religious and moral conduct, also in private life. It sets employment rules: six-day work weeks, fixed hours, 26 days of annual leave, monitoring of sick leave, restrictions on part-time work, and bans on employing relatives within the same office. The General Regulation represents a complete reconstruction of the curial system—administrative structure, documentation regime, digitalization, the rights of the faithful, and a renewed centrality of the Secretariat of State. End of Latin The previous obligation to draft acts “as a rule” in Latin disappears. Italian, English, French, and other modern languages may now be used normally. This will practically mean the abandonment of Latin. Faithful’s right to a …More
After eight years of Vatican oversight and stalled reforms, and the unexpected delay in accepting their commissioner’s resignation, the Vatican must decide on the heralds of the gospel. 2017: Opening of apostolic visitation The Brazil-based group was accepted as 'Pontifical Association' by Pope John Paul II in 2001. In 2017, Pope Francis initiated an apostolic visitation against them, conducted by the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life. At this stage, according to their documentation, no formal list of charges or specific reasons for the visitation was communicated to them. Parallel to this, various civil and canonical complaints were filed against the heralds. In the years that followed, more than thirty of these cases were resolved through acquittal or archival in both civil and ecclesiastical tribunals. 2019: Appointment of the commissioner In September 2019, after reviewing the results of the visitation, Francis appointed Cardinal Raymundo Damasceno Assis, Archbishop …More
Hayli Gubbi, Ethiopia’s long-dormant volcano, located in the Erta Ale Range, has erupted for the first time in 10,000 years, spewing towering ash columns that drifted across the Red Sea toward Oman and Yemen. Scientists say the eruption marks one of the most extraordinary volcanic awakenings in the region’s recorded history. The explosive eruption began around 8:30 a.m. UTC on Sunday, according to VolcanoDiscovery, citing an advisory from the Toulouse Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC). Satellite data later confirmed the presence of a massive ash cloud rising an estimated 10–15 km into the atmosphere. Where is Hayli Gubbi and why is this eruption significant? Hayli Gubbi lies about 15 km southeast of the Erta Ale volcano, one of the most active volcanoes on Earth and home to a persistent lava lake. It also sits within Ethiopia’s Danakil Depression, one of the hottest and most remote areas on the planet. Unlike its well-known neighbor, Hayli Gubbi has no previously recorded eruptions …
Cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra drops a bombshell on the current state of drug regulation and safety: “We’ve reached a point where trust in new medicines has been severely damaged. Unless drugs are independently evaluated — completely separate from industry influence — doctors and patients should consider saying NO to newly approved medications.” He points to major conflicts of interest: The UK’s MHRA receives 86% of its funding from the pharmaceutical industry it’s meant to regulate. Dr. Malhotra: “Drug companies should still be allowed to develop medicines… but they must no longer be allowed to test them themselves.” He calls for fully independent funding of regulators and truly independent clinical trials — arguing this is now non-negotiable for patient safety. On COVID mRNA vaccines, he cites studies suggesting a serious harm rate that, when scaled globally, could affect millions — a risk he believes was never properly independently assessed. “Patient safety must come before …More
Dublin Catholics have a dedicated cathedral for first time in 500 years The Catholics of Dublin have a dedicated cathedral for the first time in 500 years following Pope Leo XIV's decision on Nov. 14 to designate St. Mary's Pro Cathedral as the Irish capital's official Catholic cathedral. The elevation of St. Mary's to formal cathedral status was announced by Archbishop Dermot Farrell of Dublin at a Mass to mark the bicentenary of the church's dedication in 1825, the feast of the city's patron, St. Laurence O'Toole. It was approved by papal decree following a request by Farrell and consultation with the faithful in the archdiocese. Tucked away down a secondary street in Dublin's north inner city, St. Mary's shift from pro cathedral to cathedral status corrects circumstances rooted in Ireland's tumultuous religio-politico history, notably the repressive Penal Laws enforced under British rule, which banned the public practice of the Catholic faith and persecuted Catholic priests and people. …More
Dublin Catholics have a dedicated cathedral for … Announcing the good news about St. Mary's prior to cathedral designation, Farrell said the cathedral's location puts it close to situations of poverty in Dublin. The north inner city is grappling with drug addiction and poverty. "For its many challenges this is a huge blessing. Of all who come here, it is most of all to the poor that this place belongs. The cathedral in the center of the city has a prophetic value," he said. Noting that Dublin is undergoing rapid transformation, Farrell noted that with it comes dislocation and the potential for conflict over priorities and resources, "as recent disturbances have shown," a reference to Dublin's riots in November 2023. He lamented that traditional inner-city communities "are literally overshadowed by rapid commercial development, while the streets of the city center bear witness to the extent of homelessness and addiction."
