Interesting how France, the first daughter of the Western Church, still suffers from the fall-out from the French Revolutions. On the other hand, as a direct result of persecution, the Church is quite polerised. On the one hand we have Le Barroux in Provence and on the other we have the Taize community; in the via media we have Fontgombault on the one side and Solesmes on the other with good Parisian Churches like Ste Eustache and La Trinite in the middle of the Benedictine examples.
