His relic is found in Westminster cathedral. The Burning Babe
BY ROBERT SOUTHWELL SJ, Elizabethan poet, priest and English martyr
As I in hoary winter’s night stood shivering in the snow,
Surpris’d I was with sudden heat which made my heart to glow;
And lifting up a fearful eye to view what fire was near,
A pretty Babe all burning bright did in the air appear;
Who, scorched with excessive heat, such floods of tears did shed
As though his floods should quench his flames which with his tears were fed.
“Alas!” quoth he, “but newly born, in fiery heats I fry,
Yet none approach to warm their hearts or feel my fire but I!
My faultless breast the furnace is, the fuel wounding thorns,
Love is the fire, and sighs the smoke, the ashes shame and scorns;
The fuel Justice layeth on, and Mercy blows the coals,
The metal in this furnace wrought are men’s defiled souls,
For which, as now on fire I am to work them to their good,
So will I melt into a bath to wash them in my blood.”

Five arrested over plot to attack German Christmas market
Five men have been arrested in Germany suspected of being involved in a plot to drive a vehicle into people at a Christmas market.
Three Moroccans, an Egyptian and a Syrian were detained on Friday over the plan to target a market in the southern Bavarian state. Authorities said they suspected an "Islamist motive".
Prosecutors said the Egyptian - a 56-year-old - was alleged to have "called for a vehicle attack... with the aim of killing or injuring as many people as possible". The Moroccans allegedly agreed to carry out the attack.
Officials in Germany have been on high alert after previous attacks at Christmas markets, including in Magdeburg last December
that killed six people.
Authorities did not say when the planned attack was supposed to take place or which market was the target, though said they believed it to be one in the Dingolfing-Landau area, north east of Munich.
German newspaper Bild reported the Egyptian man was an …

Spotlights are on the Vatican's Supreme Court, which will meet next January 9, in the afternoon, to decide whether to recuse the Promoter of Justice, Alessandro Diddi, and exclude him from the appeal for the so-called London Trial. The recusal is seen by all as a sort of test on the actual independence of the judging panel, and it was requested in September by the defendants' defenses when they raised Diddi's incompatibility due to a series of interceptions that emerged in the spring, revealing that, in the first instance, the then prosecutor was aware of the manipulations made by the main prosecution witness, Monsignor Alberto Perlasca. In practice, the messages (thousands of them) exchanged between PR Francesca Chaouqui and Genoveffa Ciferri weigh heavily, as the two women, amidst the complexities of this tangled affair, would have inspired at different levels the memoir drafted by Perlasca, the main accuser of Cardinal Becciu. Home Alone in the Priesthood

In August 2001, I wrote an article, “Home Alone in the Priesthood,” that was published in America magazine. My thesis was that as more diocesan priests find themselves living alone, pastoring one or more parishes, both bishops and the laity need to provide more support than was offered in the past when two, and sometimes three, priests lived together in rectories. I identified various consequences that result from priests living alone, including retention problems, an increase in health and disciplinary problems, requests for early retirement, etc. Looking back at my article twenty-five years later, I have to say that I agree with 90% of what I wrote, and that almost everything I predicted has come to pass.
While an October 14, 2025, “National Study of Catholic Priests,” provided data that supported many of my earlier findings, the recent study did not adequately explain “Why Are So Many Young Priests Leaving Ministry?” Even though the study identified “burnout” and “loneliness” …

Fugitive Caught Hiding in Nativity Scene: In the southern Italian town of Galatone, a wanted man tried to evade arrest by blending into the town’s Nativity scene. Early on Saturday morning, Mayor Falvio Filoni noticed what he thought was a new life-size figure among the statues — until it started moving and speaking. The man, a 38-year-old from Ghana, had been hiding there for weeks. Police later identified him as a fugitive wanted for resisting law enforcement and aggravated assault. He has now been arrested and is serving his sentence in Lecce.

Chicago Public Lesbian "Returns to Church" - without Conversion

On 12 December, MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow — a lesbian and a prominent progressive American voice — announced that she considers herself to have returned to the Catholic Church. She lives with an artist named Susan Mikula in a same-sex "marriage".
According to TheLettersFromLeo.com, Maddow made these remarks during a question-and-answer session at a local event in Chicago. An audience member asked for her thoughts on the election of Pope Leo XIV.
In her response, Maddow praised both Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV. The Church had just said goodbye to Pope Francis, when along came Pope Leo XIV, who shares Francis's passion for illegal immigrants.
She said the timing was so perfect that it was "like it was just grown in a lab" against "cruelty to immigrants".
Maddow was raised in a conservative Catholic family, but left the Church around 30 years ago for her homosexual lifestyle. Referring to her current outlook, she told the audience, "I do consider myself to be back in the faith".

BEATA VERGINE DEL PATROCINIO
Faenza14 dicembre 1954 – Incoronazione

"We Didn't Cross the Border, the Border Crossed Us"
dwherstories.com/…ne/we-didnt-cross-the-border- …
Listen
This popular Mexican immigrant rights slogan reminds us that national borders are not natural, but created and recreated to serve the economic and political interests of the elite. In the 1800s, the United States expanded west into lands that were already transformed by many generations of colonial violence. This violence included the reliance on Indigenous women and children as a captive domestic workforce. As historian Ned Blackhawk (Western Shoshone) writes, “Violence both predated and became intrinsic to American expansion.”
Spanish colonization (of what would later become Mexico) and then U.S. invasions, redrew the territorial border. By 1848 the United States controlled most or all of the land that is now California, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and Wyoming. In the process, over 150,000 Mexican citizens and 180,000 Indigenous residents became subjects …More

Italian Diocese Presents Homosexuals and Adulterers as Christian Witnesses

In December, the Family Pastoral Service of the Diocese of Chiavari, Italy, published a booklet titled Non c’è un amore più grande (“There Is No Greater Love”). The diocese is run by Bishop Giampio Devasini.
The publication presents a collection of autobiographical “Christian testimonies” of homosexuals and adulterers.
Among the homosexuals are Marco and Michele: "We have been together since 2001."
The two homosexuals are increasingly integrated into parish life, including participation in the parish choir and diocesan pastoral activities: "What was previously set aside because it was uncomfortable and difficult to testify to has now become a reason for commitment, to bring our experiences to others."
They blame their lifestyle on God: "I believe that the ultimate goal of our work is to break down those walls of division that have always hindered the active participation of people belonging to the broad sphere of homoaffectivity in the life of the Church, under the love of the one …More

III SUNDAY OF ADVENT
O holy Roman Church, our strong city! Here we are gathered in your walls, around the tomb of this fisherman whose ashes protect you on earth, while, with his immovable doctrine, he illustrates you from heaven. But, if you are strong, you are for the Savior who will come. He is your wall; for He is the one who surrounds all your children with His mercy; He is the invincible fortress; thanks to Him, infernal powers will never prevail against you. Widen your doors, so that you can welcome all the peoples within you; for you are the teacher of holiness and guardian of truth. End as soon as possible the old error that opposes faith and let peace be set over all your flock! Oh Holy Roman Church! You have forever placed hope in the Lord; and He in turn, faithful to his promise, has humbled before you the heights of pride and the cities of pride. Cardinal Müller's Hard Line Against FSSPX and German Synodal Path

“There have been endless dialogues with the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, but they simply circle around,” Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller told TheCatholicHerald.com on December 12.
“There is no way around recognising the Second Vatican Council as the twenty-first Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church.”
He added: “The claim that the Lefebvrists are the last bastion of true Catholicity must finally come to an end.”
At the same time, Cardinal Müller acknowledged that the Fraternity has correctly identified “the wounds inflicted on the Body of Christ by self-appointed reformers in the style of Modernism.” But, he insisted, “there is never a justification for distancing oneself from the Catholic Church — even though the Church is a mixture of saints and sinners.”
For Cardinal Müller, the moment has come for “all Catholics to reunite in the truth of Christ, who in the person of St Peter and his successor, Pope Leo XIV, has established an enduring principle and foundation of …More

Prevost exploits Our Lady of Guadalupe on her feast day, shamelessly defying her message by promoting paganism and thereby violating the First Commandment

The "Mother of the true God" destroys the heresy of the religious indifferentism promoted by Prevost.
Just ten years after the conquest of Mexico, the Blessed Virgin appeared in Tepeyac, Mexico. She used an Indian recently converted to the Catholic faith called Juan Diego on Tuesday, December 12, 1531 to bring out the idolatry of the Native Indians. She was presented as "the perfect ever Virgin Saint Mary, Mother of the true God" to make known the Gospel of her son Jesus Christ to the native Indians of the New Continent.

´Know thou, O my beloved child, that I am the Ever Virgin Mary, Mother of the true God, the Author of Life, Creator of all, the Lord of Heaven and Earth, Who is present everywhere´
Nine million inhabitants converted to Christianity. That for centuries they had professed a polytheistic religion and practiced the most cruel human sacrifices.
One of the first Franciscan Fathers, Toribio de Benavente, affirmed in 1537, just six years after after the appearance of Our Lady …
