After the audience with the Pope, the delegations present at Assisi yesterday attended a lunch at the Vatican, offered by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone. Yesterday's theme was: Pilgrims of truth, pilgrims of peace, 25 years after the first meeting held in Assisi on 27 October 1986 called by Blessed John Paul II. Pope Benedict XVI asked Catholics to spiritually unite for the celebration of this important event, expressing gratitude for those who were present in the city of Saint Francis to take part in the pilgrimage. The pilgrimage ended this morning when Pope Benedict met with the delegations.
