Cuenca Cathedral was built from 1182 to 1270. The façade was rebuilt after it crumbled down in 1902. It is the first gothic style Cathedral in Spain (together with Avila's one), because of the influence of Alfonso VIII's wife, Eleanor, daughter of the King of England and his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, who introduced the Anglo-Norman style.

Cuenca es un municipio español perteneciente a la comunidad autónoma de Castilla-La Mancha y una ciudad, capital de la provincia homónima. Están situados algo al norte del centro geográfico de la provincia, a una altitud media de 946 msnm y su extenso término municipal, de 911.06 km² es uno de los mayores de España.[3] El municipio contaba con una población empadronada de 55.866 habitantes en 2009 (INE).[4]
