I’ve been talking recently with good Catholic men about what seems to have become an obsession with the “religious right” over the term “Merry Christmas.” I am intrigued by the whole concept. It seems to be coming from a pop-Christian culture that appears to go so far as to want to force businesses to use certain phrases in their advertising and ostracize others in their customer base. All this in a country that was formed under supposed freedom of religion under supposed Jedeo-Christian values, those values that allow us to pass laws that allow for contraception and abortion exterminating our entire future as a people.
