Newt Gingrich immediately called it an attack on religious freedom. Now the White House is compromising on the issue, saying the religious institutions themselves do not have to pay for it, but the insurance companies do. According to ABC insurance companies are happy to pay because it offsets the costs of unwanted pregnancies and complications which could arise.
