"Repressed and angry" reminds me when I asked Five Novus Ordo Pastors if they would have the Extraordinary Form of Mass (traditional Latin Mass) in their churches,...one would have thought they'd been asked to cut an arm or a leg off! One pastor responded, "I will retire before having this Mass (EF) in my parish!"
The SSPX is Catholic; however, their founder was excommunicated. Their bishops have refused to except Vatican 2 and have fought the previous Popes on many theological issues. As Bishop Fellay has said openly, that the Society is Catholic, SSPX holds to the Creeds and believe in the One Holy Apostolic Church and that the Pope is indeed the Pope. They are a previously cannonically aproved priesthood and are not an independent group. What else does one have to do to prove that they are Catholic? They are not the Prodigal sons. They stayed with the faith of all times while others went out into the world to get a breath of fresh air.
