I disagree with "La Croix's" analysis. The irregularity of the SSPX was not caused by a political theory of wanting to return to a French monarchy, but rather, was caused by a reaction to the liberal Thomistic theologians who interpreted VII as meaning that the Church should accommodate elements of modernism.
