Someone once said to me that to be rejected by other people is to be rejected by God, presumably meaning that I was rejected. The answer to this is that, with reference to the Bible, Christ was the most despised and rejected of men. I just have to start believing that attaining to heaven is not only possible but absolutely essential and is the only concern that really matters. The sign pointing down indicates the place of perdition for those souls rejected by God.
