2015: Pope described massacres of Armenians as genocide
VATICAN (Reuters) - Pope Francis called the massacres of Armenians in Turkey 100 years ago a "genocide" during Sunday's Mass in St. Peter's Basilica, a move that could severely damage diplomatic ties between the Vatican and Ankara.
“In the last century, our human family has overcome three enormous and unprecedented tragedies. The first, which is considered the first genocide of the 20th century, was committed against the Armenian people,” Francis said, quoting a document signed in 2001 by the then Pope John Paul II and the then Armenian Patriarch. “The other two were committed by Nazism and Stalinism.

Papež označil masakry Arménů za genocidu, to může popudit Turecko.
VATIKÁN Papež František při nedělní mši v svatopetrském chrámu použil výraz „genocida“ pro masakry Arménů, které vypukly v Turecku před 100 lety. To by mohlo silně poškodit diplomatické vztahy Vatikánu s Ankarou.
„V minulém století naše lidská rodina překonala tři obrovské a bezpříkladné tragédie. První, která bývá považována za první genocidu 20. století, postihla arménský lid,“ uvedl František citující dokument, který v roce 2001 podepsal tehdejší papež Jan Pavel II. a tehdejší arménský patriarcha. „Další dvě spáchal nacismus a stalinismus. I později došlo na masové vyhlazování, například v Kambodži, Rwandě, Burundi a Bosně,“ dodal.
Papež při velikonočním požehnání žádal mír před desetitisíci věřících
Ačkoli Jan Pavel II. použil výraz genocida v dokumentu a Jorge Bergoglio (František) jej také několikrát použil, než se stal před dvěma lety papežem, je to podle agentury AFP, která se zprávou …More

RT captures destruction in Lebanon after Israeli strikes (VIDEO)

President Aoun has condemned the deadly IDF attacks that came amid international efforts to uphold a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah
An Israeli strike on southern Lebanon on Tuesday left at least two people dead, both presumably Hezbollah militants, with multiple other attacks reported over the past few days. An RT crew on the ground witnessed the mass destruction left in the wake of the latest Israeli aerial assaults on the neighboring country.
RT Lebanon bureau chief Steve Sweeney traveled to an industrial area of the town of Ghaziyeh, near the coastal city of Sidon, where an Israeli attack razed a multi-story building. He witnessed emergency crews working their way through the rubble at the site, with nearby buildings and shops also seriously damaged.
In two separate statements on its X account on Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)
claimed that its forces had struck “Hezbollah and Hamas terror infrastructure sites in several areas in Lebanon,” including arms depots …

Cardinal Regrets Continuation of Francis’ Path at Consistory

Today, 170 Cardinals gathered for the first consistory. Pope Leo XIV was flanked in the Synod Hall by his Curia Cardinals, most of whom are pro-homosexual: Tucho (Faith), Mendonça (Education), Grech (Synod), Roche (Liturgy), Baggio (Human Development), and Artime (Religious).
After entering the Synod Hall, English pro-homosexual Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe, 80, delivered a meditation to the Cardinals. The decision to keep him in the same role he held during the Synod on Synodality carries symbolic weight. His speech today was fairly mild. However, just the day before, Cardinal Radcliffe called for the urgent ordination of women as deacons.
The cardinals were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of cardinals under the age of 80. This group was further divided into nine round tables. The second group, consisting of elderly cardinals and the Roman Curia, was divided into eleven round tables.
In the groups, the Cardinals discussed Synodality and Evangelisation.

It's time for Canadians to know the truth about the Chanie Wenjak

"The Stranger" is a song by Gord Downie that makes up his multimedia work titled, The Secret Path which tells the very sad story of Indigenous 12-year-old boy Chanie Wenjak. The work is supported by a novel and a film.
The story is that Chanie run away from a Canadian residential school. It was to get away from the disrespect and physical abuse. So, he decided to walk home, a 600 kilometre journey from where the school was located in Kenora, Ontario. The boy never made it because he died of hunger and the cold weather. His body was found near a railroad track on October 7, 1966.
The song aims to point out the suffering, loneliness and fear experienced by the children who attended residential schools. It's all become part of the long truth and reconciliation project that Canada's Liberal government adopted in 2015. In May 2020, there was also the claim that 215 graves were found near the Kamloops Indian Residential School. Note: no actual graves have been found.

Maduro’s capture wasn't about oil

The image of Nicolás Maduro in US custody has inevitably resurrected the ghosts of foreign policy past. For the reflexively cynical observer, the narrative writes itself: a Republican White House, a Latin American strongman, and the world’s largest proven oil reserves. As with Iraq in 2003, the slogan of American imperialism and its ‘blood for oil’ foreign policy circulated on social media before the dust had even settled over Caracas. ‘The overnight strikes on Venezuela,’ declared the Guardian, and Trump’s neo-imperial ‘declaration that the US would run the country and sell its oil, have driven another truck through international law and global norms’. This is a comfortable, nostalgic critique, harking back to the heady days of 2003. It is also dangerously wrong.
Maduro was not merely a socialist pariah; he was a strategic landlord
To view the dramatic defenestration of the Venezuelan regime as a resource raid is to misunderstand the fundamental shift in American grand strategy.…

St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal, Canada.
geobeats
Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal (French: Oratoire Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal) is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine on Westmount Summit in Montreal, Quebec. It is Canada's largest church[1] and the twenty-seventh largest church building in the world.
The basilica enshrines a statue of Saint Joseph, which was authorised a Canonical coronation by Pope Pius XII on 31 July 1955, now located within its crypt department. The shrine is also famous due to its association with Brother Andre Bessette who was believed to possess healing powers through his Josephian devotion with its notable oil oinment given freely to its believers.
In 1904, Saint André Bessette, C.S.C., began the construction of St. Joseph, a small chapel on the slopes of Mont Royal near Notre Dame College.[2] Soon the growing number of the congregation made it too small. In 1917 a larger church was completed that had a seating capacity of …More

Sainte Marie-Madeleine was built in 1130, when Neuilly-en-Donjon was part of the diocese of Autun, which included much of what is now Burgundy.
Sainte Marie-Madeleine, built in 1130 in Neuilly-en-Donjon during its time as part of the diocese of Autun, is an exceptional example of rural medieval church architecture. With its austere single nave and iconic stone reliefs, the church is particularly renowned for its portal and tympanum, which have captivated scholars for over a century with their unique iconography. Despite its historical significance, the church faced serious structural challenges due to a heavier roof added in the early twentieth century. The additional weight caused cracks in the main façade and nave walls, further exacerbated by water infiltration and freeze-thaw cycles. These issues eventually led to the main façade separating from the nave walls, threatening the stability of this Romanesque treasure.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 4,14-22.
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region.
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.
He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read
and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord."
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them, "Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."
And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious …
