They argue that the performance 'undermines church values' and 'misrepresents Christian rituals', citing concerns over a priest performing as a DJ in a nightclub. However, resorting to the state in such matters is futile. Padre Peixoto is due to preside over a Eucharist in Kaslik on the same day. Supporters rightly argue that his ministry and artistic work are officially recognised by church authorities in many countries. How can the Catholic Church seek unity with other Christian communities by compromising the Word of God and disregarding the divine commandments? Authentic Christian unity can never be built upon the denial of revealed truth or moral absolutes. Ideologies that contradict natural law and divine revelation—such as the normalization of homosexual acts, abortion, contraception, IVF, euthanasia, and attacks against the sacramental nature of the priesthood and the Sacrament of Confession—cannot serve as foundations for true communion.

On Epiphany, Cardinal Raymond Burke celebrated Mass in the Roman Rite at the Chiesa della Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini in Rome entrusted to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter.
