Today I had time to watch this appreciated video. I see that the formular for the anniversary of Mozarts death has been celebrated. This is obvious from the Oratio after the Introitus "Requiem aeternam" at the beginning of the Holy Mass, and from the Postcommunio at the end of the video where Mozarts name "Wolfgangi Amadei" is mentioned.If we think about Mozarts music if it fits to the Holy Mass, we have to consider also the usus of his time. Surely nobody will deny that Mozart found a very profound expression for the traditional texts of the Requien Mass turning the audience into contemplation of the last things of heaven and earth.
To me it is very instructive that the silent canon missae is time for contemplation in the mystery of christ's salvation. I don't think that the second part of the Sanctus "Benedictus qui venit" disturbs this contemplation. With all its opera like flavour Mozart music is nevertheless leading to the mysterium in my view.

He did a rather good improvisation on the 'Dies irae dies illa' at the entrance procession, faithful to the Mode I.

Künstlerisch großartig, imposant und wertvoll.Trotzdem passt die Musik meines Erachtens nicht zur Messe. Sie lenkt aus meiner Sicht vom hl. Messopfer ab, wie man an der Blickrichtung der Messbesucher erkennen kann.

Perhaps this "Msza żałobna za duszę ś. p. W.A. Mozarta" tells us what you already said: that the Holy Requiem Mass has been for the repose of the composer himself. Your very comment has been the starting point for me to search in the internet for the original data of this memorable Requiem Mass.

Endlich! Die wundervollen liturgischen Kompositionen der großen Meister werden nicht mehr nur konzertant aufgeführt oder dem Novus ordo übergestülpt, sondern verschmelzen mit der Liturgie, für die sie geschaffen wurden. Herrlich!Doch sollte man auch bei der Feier einer tridentinischen Liturgie Obacht geben, dass die Musik kein zu großes Eigenleben entwickelt, sonst besteht die Gefahr, dass auch hier die liturgischen Handlungen zur bloßen Umrahmung einer musikalischen Aufführung herabgewürdigt werden! Nach meiner unmaßgeblichen Meinung müßte deshalb z.B. der vom Chor gesungene Introitus des mozartschen Requiems bereits einsetzen, wenn der Priester in die Kirche einzieht. Somit würde der Gesang das Stufengebet und den Introitus der Liturgen untermahlen und unterstreichen und kein quasi konzertantes Eigenleben entwickeln.
Beim Dies irae aber ist die Verschmelzung von Liturgie und musikalischer Aufführung vollendet gelungen.
Bitte -wenn nicht schon geschehen- auch auf youtube veröffentlichen!
