From a rural underground parish and a clandestine seminary to the government supported Buddhist Temples and Islamic mosque at the heart of Beijing, the country is undergoing a massive resurgence of religious belief - and the authorities do not know how to handle it.

There is nothing out there that will really satisfy the hunger of every human being to find meaning and purpose except in Jesus Christ. All people have this hunger, which is why it is a theme that is reproduced across world …More

There is nothing out there that will really satisfy the hunger of every human being to find meaning and purpose except in Jesus Christ. All people have this hunger, which is why it is a theme that is reproduced across world cultures and philosophies. The fact that they are now saying that they've found the answer to this ancient search and that it is found in Marxism is very silly.
This is why people like Feuerbach and Lunacharsky advocated the idea of human religion, because they didn't think people would be satisfied with atheism. In the early 20s there was a Soviet Komsomol member who once wrote down a story of a man who had lost his wife and found himself so depressed by the atheistic state ceremony that he drunk an entire bottle of vodka; as opposed to religion being spiritual booze, booze instead came in place of religion for him.
It is a delusion to think that people will find their ultimate fulfullment in ideology, and it is also perhaps why so many in China are trying to find religion to give meaning to their lives.
