The unborn, “blessed fruits” from God.
Maternity is always a good thing because it involves a new human life every time, which is the most excellent work of creation. This is how the Cardinal of Barcelona, Archbishop Lluís Martínez Sistach, expressed it in his pro-life message that he sent to the faithful of his diocese.
“It is true that all those who are conceived, though still unborn, are also ‘blessed fruits’ from God, since it was He who bestowed on them existence in their mother’s womb.”
Speaking against abortion, the Cardinal declared:
“The direct and voluntary elimination of an innocent human being is always gravely immoral. No one or nothing can authorize the death of an innocent being, even if it is a fetus, embryo, child or adult, an elderly person, someone terminally ill or dying. No one can request this homicidal act for himself or for someone who is entrusted to his care, nor can anyone consent to this, explicitly or implicitly. No authority can legitimately impose or allow it.”
