World Youth Day: On Saturday at 4.45 p.m., Pope Francis paid a private visit to the Roman Basilica of Saint Mary Major. He asked the Virgin for her protection for his upcoming journey to Brazil. The Pope entered the Basilica through the door of the Sacristy and immediately went to the chapel where the image of the Madonna Salus Populi Romani is displayed. The Holy Father prayed for over half an hour, then he offered a wreath and lit a candle which carried the symbolic logo of the World Youth Day. The Basilica remained open to the public and many faithful were present. Before leaving the basilica the Pope briefly addressed them. At 6 p. m., the Holy Father returned to the Vatican.

World Youth Day: Last week, the Mexican girl Ángel de María Soto Zárate was in Lima, Perú, on her way to the World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro when her passport was stolen and she had to return to Mexico. There, customs officers blamed a suitcase on her that contained 10 kilos of drugs. Ángel de María was arrested. A campaign through the social media let now to her release. The Mexican prosecutor general announced that photos had been found that prove that the suitcase with the drugs did not belong to her.

60 million dollars - to the Legionaries of Christ: Gabrielle Mee, a devout Catholic, who died in 2008, gave most of her money – 60 million dollars - to the Legionaries of Christ. According to media reports her niece, Mary Lou Dauray, did not like this. She is now arguing for the right to intervene in the estate of her late aunt, and filed papers on Wednesday with the Rhode Island Supreme Court, according to WCVB.com. Dauray wants to make the judges believe that her aunt was unduly persuaded to give her money to the Legion. The niece claimed during a deposition that she herself did not want anything from Mee’s estate, but instead wanted to give the money to charity.

Father Patrick Allen is a former Episcopalian pastor who became a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Charleston. He recalls John Henry Newman, Anglican priest-turned-Catholic cardinal saying “To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant.”. At his Catholic diaconate ordination, Allen laid prostrate before Bishop Guglielmone. Allen’s 2-year-old son, Henry, ran up to lie down beside his dad. Someone snapped a photo of the moment. When Allen’s daughter, Lucy, goes to Charleston Catholic School next year, she will be the only student whose father comes not only for parent conferences and class parties, but also to celebrate Mass.

👍 So an Episcopalian Pastor converted to a Catholic priest... Wouldn't it be fair to allow marriage for the rest of the Catholic priests? Celibacy is on its way out. Married priesthood is already here in the Catholic Church.

Why don't they offer as much respect and "hospitality" to the SSPX Priests to be in communion with the new Vat. II church.?
Yes, the manner of dress of the "wife" of this "priest" is disgusting and deserves no respect from the "church".More

What's with these married priests becoming "Catholic" priests? The wife needs to read Pope Pius XII instructions on women attire, Especially married to a 'priest'.
