This picture was taken 3 years ago. Most (some?) of us were filled with optimism and anticipated a wonderful pontificate. A humble man (he carried his own luggage) was the new visible leader of the Catholic Church. Slowly, at first, our expectations remained unfulfilled and we were treated to something completely different than what we had hope for. A man who, when he took office, seemed endearingly informal — paying his own bill at his hotel, refusing to live in the Apostolic Palace, making surprise phone calls to members of the public — now cuts a less sympathetic figure.
The traditionalist blog Rorate Caeli suggested that ‘ageing or an underlying medical issue’ was responsible for his ‘persistent anger, rancor, use of uncouth words (which is known to be increasingly frequent in private)’.

Look, you all have been getting ironically humourous. So, I take this as a joke, alas, at first on me. I believed. Faith can move mountains, but Gloria-tv can move the Pope? One of the deadly 6 sins. (Papal insight has determined the the number 7 was wrong).
