Pope’s high praise for Cardinal Sean O’Malley

O’Malley is one of eight cardinals and the only North American representative on the pope’s committee to reform the Apostolic Constitution on the Roman Curia. The Rev. James Weiss, a professor of church history at Boston College, said with most of the prestigious leadership appointments inside Vatican City already filled, O’Malley is now Francis’ key ally in America.

“As one of the eight cardinals selected to the committee to reform the church he needs O’Malley to have one foot in the U.S.,” Weiss said. “The pope is calling on him for his experience.”

Francis appointed 19 new bishops this week and has moved against conservative cardinals in favor of appointing moderates, experts said. Bretzke said this is a move towards transparency in the handling of sex assaults as well as in areas of church finance.

“Pope Francis is trying to, in a systematic way, reorganize Vatican culture, to change the way things were done from his immediate predecessors,” he said. “Not in a dramatic, flashy way, but in organized and incremental ways.”

Too many prelates behave in this type of way, their ego's must be very enlarged. This lady conferred nothing on this "prelate". So why did he go along with this pretend sacrament ( which does not exist: as there is one baptism) what is his real agenda? Is he man enough to tell the truth? Or will he continue to hide behind his outfits, title and the money.
Fakes make me vomit.

Both of you make excellent points.

I don't doubt what you wrote about the theological implications of this act. My focus has been on the optics. What does his "ecumenical" act say to groups who are set on having women at the altar in one way or another? Coming from a Prince of the Church and possible future pope, does this bizarre act give these women hope or does it discourage them?

Perhaps this is what O'Malley (and some others) want? If so, the Church really is in deep doo-doo.

The Catholic Church does not ordain women.

Lets see, what we see here: Cardinal O'Malley just had a Methodist Woman {Methodists Churches often fly the sodomite rainbow flag or same color welcome signs} Give him, a Prince of the Church a Sacramental type action.
The Methodists do not believe in the Sacrifice of the Mass , and they teach against it by the rejection of it.

He the Cardinal approaches her for this re-affirmation of a Catholic This from heretics that reject the MOST BLESSED SCRAMENT OF THE ALTAR.
He is a Prince of the Holy Catholic Church: His Primary duty is to protect and preserve the faith even at the cost of his life if needed. viz RED for Cardinal
On Purpose for the camera this prince has publically done at least the following.
He has just given scandal to men, and women alike by approaching this women for her blessing?
He has approached a Heretic that denies our Dogmas for a Blessing.
He has shared in a religious ceremony with Heretics that Deny the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Pretty sure this falls under the sin: A sin against the Holy Ghost.
