Prayers for those who have suffered abuse of any kind.
For several weeks now, scandals about priests who have been accused of sex crimes -- on some occasions with minors -- have repeatedly been reported by the media.
One of the countries that has been shaken by the child abuse crisis is Ireland. Following Benedict XVI’s appeal, the Archdiocese of Dublin has presented the following prayer, which is now being recited in many parts of the world for those who have been abused by priests:
Lord, we are so sorry for what some of us did to your children:
treated them so cruelly, especially in their hour of need.
We have left them with a lifelong suffering.
This was not your plan for them or us.
Please help us to help them.
Guide us, Lord.
Amen.
