Relic of the Skull of Our Holy Father Dominic.
This is the major relic of St Dominic. His skull is encased in a beautiful medieval reliquary from 1383; regarded as one of the finest examples of medieval gold and silver work. It is housed in St Dominic's shrine in the basilica of San Domenico in Bologna. Today, 24 May is the feast of the Translation of the Relics of St Dominic.
