Irena Sendler was a polish catholic nurse, who worked in Warsaw during the nazi-occupation. She became known as the "Angel of Warsaw-Ghetto" for having saved 2500 Jewish children from certain death.
That is amazing. I have just spoken to a person who knew Mrs Sendler. He told me Mrs Sendler was a full of life woman. It was very important for her to learn all her life.
It is wonderful that Irena Sendlerowa is famous also outside my country. My late grandmother also helped Jewish children during WWII. She hid them in her house.
