Western Bishops’ Obsession with Sex: Tim Stanley who calls himself “very, very Catholic” has warned on his blog that the Church will not be changing its views on sex despite the media’s claims to the contrary. Quote: “Anyone who thinks that Catholics might shift on divorce is not only living in another universe but unfamiliar with Matthew 19.” Stanley adds that obsession about sex is a Western thing. Quote: “In other parts of the world, folks are more concerned with feeding themselves.”

No Progress: Irish Catholics and Protestants will train teachers together in a new Institute of Education”. It will replace the Catholic St Patrick’s College and Mater Dei Institute as well as the Church of Ireland College of Education and operate under Dublin City University. Dublin Archbishop Diarmuid Martin claimed that this change reflected something of how education in Ireland is progressing. But Dr Ciarán Ó Coigligh, at St Patrick's, describes it as “a takeover” and giving into those who “promote a secularist agenda.”

Chairman Steps Down. Ernst von Freyberg, the Vatican bank's chairman is to step down as soon as next week according to Vatican sources. The new statues of the bank are expected to make the chairman's job a full-time, residential position and Freyberg seems to have decided he wants to return to his family in Germany. Freyberg was appointed to head the bank in February, 2013 by Pope Benedict.

Finding God in Hollywood: 75 year old Connecticut Benedictine nun Mother Dolores Hart – a former Hollywood actress – is back in her monastery after an extended promotional tour for her autobiography, “The Ear of the Heart” that was published last year. Mother Dolores says of Hollywood: “I really found God there.” Her life experience included growing up in a family where both parents where alcoholics. She became a Catholic when she was in elementary school.
