Benedict XVI granted Italy's Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, an audience in the Vatican to discuss the current collaboration between Italy and the Holy See in light of the existing accords between the two nations. The Italian delegation included Berlusconi's Undersecretary, Gianni Letta, who was present at the 40 minute long private meeting. The common desire to work together as outlined in the Lateran Pacts was reaffirmed by both parties.
