Cardinal Will Not Resign

Ireland

Cardinal Seán Brady of Armagh has denied reports that he has tendered his resignation to Pope Benedict. “This is not true about my resigning,” the primate of All Ireland said on August 29. “I am not resigning.” Journalists have tried to damage the Cardinal’s credibility producing a widespread discussion about an old report showing that in 1975, as a young priest, he persuaded two young men to sign an agreement promising that they would not report the misconduct of a notoriously abusive priest.

Pope Confronted By Posters

UK

Pope Benedict will be confronted by posters on London's famous red buses during his trip to the British capital next month. It will call for the ordination of women priests. One group of women, Catholic Women's Ordination (CWO), will have its message plastered on the side of the buses as they travel along key routes, including past Westminster Hall, at the Palace of Westminster, where the pope is set to deliver a speech to Britain's civic society on September 17. The group has paid 15,000 pounds ($23,130) for 15 buses to carry the message "Pope Benedict - Ordain Women Now!" for a month.

Franciscan Murdered in Peru

Peru

Father Linan Ruiz Morales, an 80-year-old Franciscan priest who ran a soup kitchen was murdered in his bedroom in Lima on August 27. A 26-year-old assistant was also found murdered in the kitchen. Father Ruiz was a native of Puerto Rico. He was raised in New York and joined the Franciscan order at the age of 27. He made his novitiate in Peru and returned to the nation in 1978.

Two Bishops in Denver Marathon

USA

Two Catholic bishops will take part in a Denver marathon in October. One is running to raise funds to pay off the $2.07 million debt on his diocese’s cathedral, while the other is joining local Catholics to increase prayers for and awareness of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Bishop of Springfield, Ill. Thomas J. Paprocki, a longtime marathon runner, has announced he is training for the Oct. 17 event. The 58-year-old prelate said he enjoys running and has participated in 16 marathons. Auxiliary Bishop of Denver James Conley will also take part in the event.

Most of our Cardinals are de facto retired. I hope that the Irish Cardinals refuses to retire in order to do his job.

I agree with you on Obama and your critique of alot of the videos I've seen you do. I have actually found it quite amusing because for the most part you're the first person on Gloria to consistently give opinions on both content and presentation. Fr. Moving for a moment to the Dung Beetle-in-Chief, Obama is a con man. With no executive experience he (along with his enablers in the lame-stream media) convinced the people in this country that he would be the right choice for (what he called) “hope and change.” Now, except for his blind racist supporters, the majority of those who voted for him have buyer's remorse.

You mention that sometimes people with the “most good to say” are not equipped to get their message effectively delivered to the target audience. I also believe that is true in some cases. In the short time that I've been viewing videos at this site, I've seen the pattern repeated numerous times. The message is, of course, the most critical part of a presentation but unless there is a strong delivery to go with that message, the speaker has (imo) failed in his/her goal to affect others or to, at least, make his audience think differently.

Now, I believe that effective delivery can be improved upon and, indeed, can be improved dramatically. Like any other skill, as long as there is some innate ability, that ability can be trained, honed and developed provided that the individual has the courage and humility to face reality, and the desire to improve.

So, I do exactly what I would want done to me. I criticize with the hope that the person I'm criticizing will take my words in the spirit in which they are intended.

My oh my, Again bishop Paprocki makes the news; first it's his hockey playing, then it's his singing the Backstreet Boys' song to the Confirmands, and now he's running the marathon. Isn't somewhere in between all these things the bishop finds to partake in,... is Working For The Salvation Of Souls? Hmmm, I must be behind the times.

Maybe Mr. Joe Paprocki who tries selling his wares on this site can lend us some info as to how his brother, (the bishop), finds the time to get involved with all these worldly attractions, Especially when countless Souls are being damned to Hell everyday.? 🙏

Holy Cannoli, you are really big on presentation aren't you! Are you a theatre critic?-Just kidding. Anyway presentation is important but sometimes it is a bad thing when a good presenter fools people with a bad message. Obama comes to mind-even though he is a teleprompter reading, bumbling idiot (when the teleprompter goes down-so does he) who I personally find about as inspiring as a plane crash, he certainly fooled alot of uneducated morons into voting for him. The message is definately the most important aspect of a presentation and unfortunately sometimes the people with the most good to say are the least capable of getting their message across effectively.
