Atheist Defends the Church

Ireland

Two days ago the atheist Left-wing columnist Brendan O’Neill, editor of spiked-online.com rubbished claims that thousands of children were “raped by the Catholic Church’s army of paedophile priests”. Here’s an extract: Were 10,000 children in America and thousands more in Ireland really raped by Catholic priests?” O’Neill answers: “In a word, no.” He continues: “Instead, what has happened is that in the increasingly caliginous, almost Inquisitorial mindset of sections of the New Atheist anti-pope lobby, every allegation of abuse against a Catholic priest … has been lumped together under the heading of ‘rape’, and every allegation has been described as an actual proven ‘rape’ regardless of whether it resulted in a legal trial, never mind a conviction.”

The monastery consist primarily of ancient cells dug into mountains. It sits on what Egyptian authorities have designated as a conservation area. Police say that new construction is illegal. The monks argue that authorities are enforcing rules arbitrarily in order to limit the number of monks.

The essays are divided into three parts: Part I Pilgrim, Part II Pastor, and Part III Prophet.

Religious Theme Park

Mallorca

Developers behind an amusement park proposed for Mallorca believe that religious tourists in Europe need the attraction of the Holy Land. Therefore they have created the continent's very first Christian theme park. It will offer visitors everything from the Last Supper to "live resurrections" in a rolling program of shows repeated through the day. Although similar parks exist in Latin America and the US, Europe has yet to build a Christian theme park, perhaps because the number of those with faith is dwindling.
