According to the VAtican Declaration on Freemasons,

"The faithful who enrol [sic] in Masonic associations are in a state of grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion."
The Declaration says NOTHING about the faithful's knowledge

Because they contained doctrinal elements that went against his teaching, ( i.e. prayers for the dead in the Second Book of Maccabees). Therefore, he decided to use the Jewish canon from 85 A.D. developed after the destruction of the Temple, rather than the Scriptures that would have been used by Jesus, the Apostles, and St. Paul ( i.e. the Septuagint)
