Pope Leo XIV arrived in Lebanon this afternoon. During the flight, he reaffirmed the Holy See’s support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He also noted that, while in Turkey, he discussed plans for a major ecumenical gathering in 2033—possibly in Jerusalem—to mark 2,000 years since Christ’s death and resurrection. In Lebanon, large crowds braved heavy rain to glimpse the Pope. He was welcomed by a light show projected onto the walls of the Presidential Palace in Baabda before speeking to Lebanon’s civil authorities.

Travelling Maccabi Tel-Aviv fans before their Champions League clash with Chelsea, 2015. Wikimedia Commons , joshjdss, CC-BY-2.0 The outcry surrounding West Midlands Police (WMP) has increased following the UK Home Secretary demanding an investigation into the recent ban on Israeli soccer fans from an away game in Birmingham. Civil servants working for Shabana Mahmood have now contacted Dutch officials to examine claims made about violence during Maccabi Tel Aviv’s match against Ajax in Amsterdam last November. At the time, the decision to bar Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters from a UEFA Europa League fixture was explained in terms of their potential hooliganism. Subsequently, it came to light that—at least formally speaking—this decision would have been based on flawed ‘evidence’ gleaned from an Amsterdam police report. (There is widespread suspicion that this is just an excuse, however.) The WMP’s hot take on the police file from the Netherlands is at odds with the actual events that …
The subway station dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, officially inaugurated in Tehran In the Iranian capital, the opening of a station named after the Blessed Virgin Mary brought together civil and religious representatives, offering an unprecedented image of coexistence in the heart of the Islamic Republic The Maryam-e Moghaddas station, located on line 6 of the Tehran metro, was inaugurated in the presence of Mayor Alireza Zakani, metropolitan network engineers and members of the Armenian and Assyrian Christian communities. Among the religious identified, Latin Archbishop Dominique Joseph Mathieu was present, a symbolic gesture in a country where recognized Christian minorities have official rights but are rarely highlighted at public events of this magnitude. The interior of the station is distinguished by its strong religious dimension, the walls being decorated with bas-reliefs representing the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus, as well as a dove symbolizing the Holy Spirit. In his closing remarks at Saturday morning’s ecumenical meeting in the Church of Mor Ephrem – the Syriac Orthodox church in Istanbul that was the first new church building erected since the foundation of the Turkish Republic in 1923 – Pope Leo XIV invited everyone present at the ecumenical gathering “to journey together on the spiritual journey leading to the Jubilee of Redemption in 2033, with the prospect of a return to Jerusalem, to the Upper Room.” That’s according to a statement from the press office of the Holy See, given to journalists traveling with Leo in Turkey, where the pontiff has been since Thursday to mark the 1700th anniversary of the …
@Henryk Lahola..Thank you and God Bless you for posting this. Yes, abortion is the Tragedy and crime of the centuries with no sign of slowing down but instead increasing. "And if one member suffers anything, all the members suffer with it" (1 Cor 12:26) is why all the Church is suffering. The suffering will continue until the end of time unless Catholics stop abortion. Don't depend on apparitions who never preach against abortion...never.

A 27-meter Norway spruce from the Ultimo Valley, Northern Italy, has been raised in St. Peter’s Square on Thursday. The nativity scene is also on its way, crafted in the Diocese of Nocera Inferiore–Sarno in Campania. According to the Vatican’s official announcement, it will blend regional architecture, traditional figures, and symbolic details. It will honor St. Alphonus Maria de Liguori, whose remains lay in the southern Italian diocese.
The huge Christmas tree and nativity scene at Saint Peter's Square are both under construction this weekend
How many times have the most monstrous violations of international law been explained as heroic outbursts of patriotism by an aggressor nation! How many times, on the other hand, have the most sacred rights of individuals, families, or corporations been trampled underfoot on the pretext that the interests of the Fatherland demanded it!
Legionário, January 28, 1940, No. 385 Pacifism by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira I believe that there has never been a more opportune time for a digression on pacifism than in these days of war that we are experiencing. Because, in reality, pacifism has never seemed to have contributed so much to diverting consciences, [softening] wills, and disarming the most just and imperious resistance. And, above all, it has never sought to hide itself as insistently as it does today under the skin of a lamb, pretending to be very Catholic. I therefore believe that readers of Legionário will benefit from spending a little time reflecting on the subject. * * * One of the characteristic features of Catholic morality is that it not only recommends love of good, but teaches that each virtue, considered directly, must be loved within certain limits, lest it become a defect. What are these limits? Those that are imposed by other higher virtues. As long as our love for a particular virtue is not motivated by …More
@Jeffrey Ade thanks for share it!! my great online friend, brother Jeffrey... yes!! Just looking at the problems with nationalists surrounding the U.S. immigration issue makes it even clearer... As I mentioned yesterday, it is absolutely right to decisively deport illegal immigrants and refugees who have committed dangerous crimes, as well as immigrants and refugees who have joined vicious Islamic extremist groups. No sane person would oppose this... However, there are also many immigrants and refugees in the United States who have lived without committing crimes, and among them are a great many Catholic and Christian immigrants and refugees... I am convinced that showing them the utmost tolerance is the right thing to do. Even the most heretical American cardinals and bishops acknowledge this point, clearly recognizing the right to defend against dangerous illegal immigrants or refugees, and vicious Islamic extremist forces. Yet, within the scope I mentioned, it is absurd to criticize …More
Daughter of Hamas Founder converts to Christianity
The daughter of the founder of Hamas converts to Christianity Juman Al Qawasmi is the daughter of one of the founders of the Hamas terrorist group and the ex-wife of one of its leaders. Juman grew up being taught that her loyalty lay with the Hamas cause. She was taught to see Jews and Christians as enemies and as a religious threat. "I was born and raised in Qatar. My father is one of the founders of Hamas. My parents encouraged us to hate Israel, Jews, Christians, even everyone who didn't belong to Hamas. We had to kill them, because that's what the Quran says." In 2007, Hamas took control of Gaza. Until then, Jews and Palestinians had lived in relative peace, but during that time she witnessed acts of violence, even against Palestinians, as the group consolidated its power. "Between 2002 and 2012, I lived in Gaza and saw what Hamas was doing when they took power. They said they came to bring equality for all and fulfill their promises, and none of that happened." These experiences …More
Juman said, she didn't know any Christians, nor had ever met one, yet, Christ appeared to her in a dream and told her He was God and loved her. As the Church teaches there is no salvation outside the Church, but for those who sincerely seek Him with a pure heart, He will make a way for them to find Him.
