Leo XIV on his visit to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul: "But who said I didn't pray? People claimed I didn't pray, but I had already responded to that on the plane: I mentioned a book and said that it may well be that you are praying even at this moment, do you understand? The nature of prayer depends on the moment and the place. Personally, I prefer to pray in a Catholic church, before the Blessed Sacrament; but if this moment caused such a stir, it seems a little strange to me."
Leone XIV manda in tilt i …
When we started Gloria.tv almost twenty years ago, we had no idea that you were supposed to have serious start-up capital and a polished financial plan. Thank God we didn’t know! In hindsight, we believe that it is an act of Divine Providence that Gloria.tv has worked all these years. Being chronically underfunded has taught us: - to complain and whine to Saint Joseph - to count every penny and dispense with necessary equipment - to trust in God, because we never lacked what we needed to pay our bills, not once. We can't express how grateful we are also to YOU for that! The upside of lacking a business plan is independence. There are no favours to return, no hidden sponsors waiting for a call-back, and no tribal axe to grind. Gloria.tv is beholden to God and, at its best, serves the Church, the truth and, at least, freedom. As a social media platform, Gloria.tv is unique among Catholic sites and thus makes a real difference online. Just like 18 years ago, we still don't have a Plan …More
Christians have been sentenced to annihilation, because even Protestants, who greatly contributed to the destruction of the Catholic Church, know some fragment of the teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ. And the system wants complete destruction and erasure of this teaching from memory. This teaching is the key to the Truth, and therefore to the inner temple, to the spiritual world where you become an uncontrolled, independent, peaceful soul waiting for the fall — which will certainly come, like every fall of an empire built on human ideologies. And it does not matter whether in human eyes these ideologies are good or bad. The fall is inevitable. People always eventually build the tower of Babel, even though they begin with a beautiful cathedral.
The Hong Kong Court of Appeals heard the appeal of 93-year-old Cardinal Joseph Zen and four other members of the now-defunct 612 Humanitarian Fund, who were convicted in 2022 for failing to formally register the fund as a society, as required by local law. The verdict will be announced within the next nine months. The 612 Fund, created in 2019 to provide assistance to pro-democracy protesters, was shut down in 2021. The defendants—including lawyer Margaret Ng, singer Denise Ho, former parliamentarian Cyd Ho, and academic Hui Po-keung—were each fined HK$4,000. Although the case is not being tried under the National Security Law imposed by Beijing in 2020, pro-democracy organizations argue that it has political undertones and seeks to punish pro-democracy activism and limit religious and civil liberties in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Court of Appeal has been hearing the appeal of Cardinal Joseph Zen (93, retired Catholic bishop of Hong Kong) and four other trustees of the 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund: barrister Margaret Ng, academic Hui Po-keung, former lawmaker Cyd Ho, and singer-activist Denise Ho. They were convicted in November 2022 of failing to register the 612 Fund as a “society” under Hong Kong’s Societies Ordinance and each fined HK$4,000; the fund’s secretary, Sze Shing-wai, was fined HK$2,500 and is not part of the appeal.
Anyone have old pictures of The Nativity? Can you post them please? It's a shame I had to try a few ways to finally find a picture that is not from ai. The few I found were either too small for a screen saver which I change out every month for the devotion of the month. Or it was too big or ugly. And they were very few of any of them.
Die Familie Smith finanzierte mehrere Handelsschiffe …More

Book of Isaiah 40,25-31. To whom can you liken me as an equal? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these: He leads out their army and numbers them, calling them all by name. By his great might and the strength of his power not one of them is missing! Why, O Jacob, do you say, and declare, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is disregarded by my God"? Do you not know or have you not heard? The LORD is the eternal God, creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint nor grow weary, and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny. He gives strength to the fainting; for the weak he makes vigor abound. Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles' wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint. Psalms 103(102),1-2.3-4.8.10. Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all my being, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and …More

Victor, Orthocat was probably remembering the practice of his family. I remember shopping with my Mom and I'm older than anyone here......... (bet 'cha)
75 year old pious Catholic here. We never waited to do shopping on Christmas Eve. It is (was) no sin to shop during Advent. I think what you are remembering is a Movie fiction.
We continue posting daily Advent reflections by the Church Fathers. It's a good way to prepare to celebrate Christmas. The reflections and quotations come from the book titled, Advent and Christmas with the Church Fathers by Marco Pappalardo. Introduction John the Baptist’s call to conversion resounds with the same power today that it did two thousand years ago. The desert of Judea is the emptiness of life, a lack of reference points, the loss of religious meaning, and decadence of values. God never abandons his people despite it all, and his Kingdom comes even closer through Christ’s Resurrection. None of us is wholly pure and exempt from the need for repentance: those who believe they are risk hardness of heart and deafness to the call to change paths. Reflection by Hilary of Poitiers, In those days John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the desert of Judea [and] saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!’ (Mt 3:1-2). The place could have been more suitable for the …
