Zamfir: Schubert's Ave Maria.

The hymn Ave Maria by Franz Schubert is loved and well known around the universe for its simplicity and ability to move practically anyone who hears it. The piece was composed around 1825 when Schubert was only 28 years old.

It is played by Gheorghe Zamfir is a Romanian pan flute musician, the most famous pan flutists in the world, harp and orchestra. Zamfir is known as "The Master of the Pan Flute"

Although many people are not aware of it, the words to the hymn were originally written by Walter Scott for his "Lady of the Lake."

The Ave Maria is a prayer to the Virgin Mary for comfort and help as we recite in the "Hail Mary" and it is a much beloved song we now know so well - AVE MARIA.
