On May 1the Vatican released a communiqué with the results of a year-long investigation of the Legionaries of Christ. The document indicates that the Pope will shortly appoint a special delegate to lead the order and a commission to review its founding documents. From the results of the Apostolic Visit different points have emerged, so: 1. The necessity to redefine the charism of the Congregation of the Legionaries of Christ, preserving the true nucleus, that of being a “Militia Christi.” 2. The necessity to review the exercise of authority, which must be connected to truth. 3. The necessity to preserve the enthusiasm of the faith of the young, the missionary zeal, the apostolic dynamism, through an adequate formation.

The Pope Visits the Shroud of Turin

Yesterday Pope Benedict made a Pastoral Visit to Turin. In particular he visited the Shroud of Turin which is on temporary exposition in the Cathedral. In the morning the Holy Father celebrated Mass in the piazza San Carlo. During his homily, he spoke about the new commandment of Christ. He explained how Christ's passion, witnessed in the Shroud of Turin, gives us hope.

Three traditionalist bishops of the Church of England have met in a secret Vatican summit with senior members of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith – the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph has reported last Saturday. The bishops declared that they are ready to join the Church. This move came only weeks ahead of a crucial General Synod debate on making women bishops. The three bishops were bishop John Broadhurst of Fulham, bishop Keith Newton of Richborough and bishop Andrew Burnham of Ebbsfleet.
