Dear Reesorville I thank you for your kind words of wisdom. I do go to catholic masses as well on regular basis. There it is a very kind and welcoming athmosphere, a quite different approach to some of the people here. Also, if people do have different opinions, it is not necessary and a good think to be aggressive towards each other. That is not Christian. God bless you too!

A comment to Rhemes1582. What Luther said about The Pope is of no concern today, and besides, it was political rhetorics.
About the sacrifice of the mass that is not a dogma in Lutheran theology like it is not in the orthodox church but they indeed believe that the eucharist is a reciprocal sacrifice which is carried out, the one and only.More

And just as St. Padre Pio, communed, with Jesus and Mary, and His guardian angel, daily, and fought the devil, nightly, and I mean fought him, hand to hand, in his cell. Freaking, and terrifying everyone out, that lived with him. May you, Karpov89, find the incredible witness, from living Saints, only found in the Church. Saints, that have the signs, and miracles, that Christ said, would exist, to prove the authenticity, of the Church..... 🤦 God, is not playing games, Karpov89. He is not hiding....He is not afraid. He is not playing church. He has stepped up to the plate, and in plain site, rose up incredible Saints, like Padre Pio. Testimony, from his friars, and holy men, that lived with him, and knew him personally, that watched him, take 3 hours to say the holy mass. Completely in Ectasy. Tears flowing down his face in pools. The testimony, that everyone, new there was supernatural gifts, that were obvious to all. Testimony, from everyone, that they could FEEL THE PRESENCE OF ALMIGHTY ETERNAL GOD, JUST FLOWING OUT OF HIM. May you Karpov89, be shown the the Saints, of the Church, and may the Holy Spirit, reveal, the Church that JESUS CHRIST, is head off!!!!!!!!!! 😡

Dear Karpov- that's a very encouraging answer, and I hope that one day you, your church and all others separated from Rome come to recognize the Pope as the successor of Peter. Dear Karpov- that's a very encouraging answer, and I hope that one day you, your church and all others separated from Rome come to recognize the Pope as the successor of Peter. I also think that the many crises that are being experienced in a number of protestant communities with regard to liberalization of doctrines (eg. practicing gay priests, rejection of Christ's divinity, etc.) may only increase to a point of eventual apostasy unless they return to Rome. I was raised in a liberal protestant tradition, and as much sympathy as I have the for the conservative reaction among the denominations that are encountering those things, I fear that they are just fooling themselves if they think that somehow it is just going to get better.

(anyone can say this with me if she chooses)

I pray that Jesus Christ touches your heart with His love and brings you to know the fullness of His truth as is revealed in the holy roman catholic church. Bring us all here on this website to love each other as christians ought. I ask for this, in Jesus' name, Amen

In general; Martin Luther wrote many things and if anyone think that his writings has the same value as the Holy Bible it is wrong. Many things he said was due to the political situation and against the political ambitions the Church had then but not now, for example the Pope being Antichrist. No sound person would think that now. He reacted against some misconditions but overreacted in some respects, like Monastic life. I am not so sure Martin Luther would have been negative to the lutheran Monastic life today and how the wows are given.

Reesorville, the Pope is the most important Christian person on earth and the most important bishop, that I hope all Lutherans agree on. I also believe that is what the Ortodox, which are real churches according to catholic doctrine, believe.

Revthrees21 I am not going to argue with you about homosexual pastors (who do not live in celibacy), there at such problems also in other churches like the Old Catholic, Episcopalian etc and that is of course sad and wrong. I would not go to that church and receive the holy communion from that pastor - but the main reason that he is a pastor and not a priest. (If he was a priest I would maybe not done it anyway if I had been aware of it).

Holyrope1: I think, brother we are moving into the area of scripture, where...throwing pearls to swines....fits here. Now we have come to the point, where, we have someone, that is clearly not listening to about 5 of us.......

This is like the famous O.J. Simpson case. And Karpov89 is a juror, that just aquited O.J., and in my little fictional story here, new evidence has just come out, the security camara, worked afterall, and there was a hidden tape, that showed, without a doubt, that O.J. killed both Nicole, and Ron Goldman.....and this tape, was just shown, to Karpov89.....and his reply was....its a forgery....lol....no matter what scripture is presented, or no matter, what logic is shown, someone, that feels, Martin Luther, has something to offer, that is different, than the many other heresies...is not going to listen to anything we have to say.....
🤒 , again, as EJG....{so brilliantly pointed out.....if it were me, and I was born into a lutheran family, and I am embarrassed to say, that my folks, never taught me, diddly about the Truth}....but I have read, some of the stuff, Martin Luther slings around, and to be honest, its out right scarey. I think, the great smut peddler, Larry Flint of Hustler, who had a born again experience, with President Jimmy Carters sister on a jet, has more to say, to enlighten a soul about Christianity, then Luther. To the life of me, why would a person, want to go to a watered down Roman Catholic Church, to me, thats all a Lutheran Church is......Luther has taken a pair of sissors, and butchered the bible, and justified it, by his own authority????? 🤨 My mother right now, a devout Lutheran, watches the Catholic Channel all day long...she is 80, and stuck in the Lutheran rutt.....and I asked her the other day....what are you going to do, mother, when they ship in a practicing homosexual, as your priest, and you get to have coffee and donuts, afterward, with his husband????? 😊 oh boy.....maybe, he will change the color of the whole church pink or something.....pppprrrreeeettttyyyyy.....and my mother just shakes her head, and gets this sick look on her face....... 🥴 for the life of me, I don't know, how a person, can see, many different religions, the Witness's, the Mormons.....the Lutherans, the Baptists....and not stop and ask themselves....what is in common here???? oh...I see, its a man, that thinks, all of a sudden, they have been chosen to reveal Truth....God, has got it all wrong, the previous, 2000 years, and now, God has just decided, its time to get it right, on say....Joseph Smith, or Martin Luther?????? That doesn't make any sense. Psychology, 101...tells me, there is a hidden agenda here. This person, is upset, with a doctrine of the Church, and they are acting out.....and low and behold, taking scripture, and making it fit there scenario....and if that were the standard, God, would be a mess. He would be completely out of control. And if you look at how Jesus Christ, handled Himself, He was anything, but out of control....so I am still amazed, that karpov89, wonders why we don't accept, Martin Luthers nonsense. Martin Luther, Mr. Karpov89 is an enemy to our Faith. 😡 and a traitor to the Church. 😡 and as far as we are concerned....will be lucky if he is not in perdition.

"TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I DO BELIEVE IN THE REAL PRESENCE OF CHRIST IN COMMUNION. THAT DOCTRINE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME AS IS THE NOTION THAT CHRIST BIRTHED ONE CHURCH. I HAVE STRUGGLED WITH BOTH OF THESE ISSUES INTERNALLY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THE FACT THAT THERE ARE 30,000 BRANCHES OF CHRISTIANITY IN AMERICA ALONE GRIEVES MY HEART. I BELIEVE THAT CONTINUING DIVISION AND DEBATE OVER ESSENTIALS PROVIDES A POOR WITNESS TO THE LOST ABOUT OUR CHRISTIAN UNITY IN THE ONE LORD. MY MINISTRY IN RADIO HAS ONLY SERVED TO REINFORCE THAT CONVICTION. FINALLY, I HAVE ALWAYS STRUGGLED WITH THE IDEA I CALL "DOCTRINE BY DEMOCRACY." I SIMPLY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET MY ARMS AROUND THE CONCEPT THAT WE VOTE ON CERTAIN THINGS TO DECIDE WHAT IS TRUE."

WELCOME HOME, ALLEN HUNT!!

Would it be possible if the modern lutheran church also re-interpret papal supremacy to make that acceptable with Luther's doctrine?

And he obviously, is a practicing, homosexual....the Lutheran church seems to have switched sides, concerning, I believe in there own, Lutheran Creeds, that Homosexuality, is against the teachings of the Lutheran, ruling body...... 🤒 don't you find it, disturbing as my mother does, that all of a sudden, she is going to have to try and justify, an openly gay, married priest, concencrating the Holy Eucharist???. Is there much more that I need to say. 🤦 I think, if you dig really deep, you will find, that Calvin or Luther, really didn't reform anything. Why don't you, take a look at the incredible, miracles at Lourdes.....or Fatima, and read the book of Revelations, where St. John, see's our Lady, crowned, with the Sun and moon at her disposal. And have faith, that the Church that Jesus Christ started, is sufficient enough, to carry, correct teaching. And Martin Luther, is the last person, let alone, Joseph Smith, to abandon, the 2000 year old Church . EJG is right. Do you feel comeforteable, following the doctrine of someone, that says, if you murder, and commit adultry, over and over, your still fine in Gods eyes. The complete gospel, has to do with overcoming sin...to the end.....what about the 5 virgins who were wise, and the 5 that were fools. There is tons of correct scripture, interpretation, from the Church, to help you understand, Martin Luther, didn't reform...diddly...... 🤨 I find it very convient that Luther, who not only was a failed Catholic Priest, but he failed as a Monk, and I believe he married another failed Nun.....it adds up to me, that he is against the monastic life....he failed at it.....

REVTHREEVS21: "HE WHO CONQUERS I WILL GRANT HIM TO SIT WITH ME ON MY THRONE, AS I MYSELF CONQUERED AND SAT DOWN WITH MY FATHER ON HIS THROWN" What do you think, that scripture means. Do you think, that murdering all you want, or commiting adultry all you want, fits into that scripture, like Luther says...in his Briefwechel, III pg 208?
