Detail of the painted High Altar frontal depicting the fall of Man. The Latin inscription contains the promise given by God in Genesis 3:15 that "The seed of the woman will strike the serpent", which is seen as a prophecy concerning Christ whose Cross, the Tree of Life overcame the curse of sin from the Tree of Death in Eden. Flanking this are St Andrew and St James.
