Film Festival Tertio Millennio in Rome.

The Film Festival Tertio Millennio inaugurated its XII edition with the International Congress "Images from the world: Cinema, Representation, Truth," held on December 2 and 3 at the Trevi Cinema Hall in Rome.

Among those present at the meeting was the chairman of the Ente dello Spettacolo Foundation, Monsignor Dario Edoardo Viganò, the president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, and the secretary of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, Monsignor Paul Tighe.

The first screening of the festival began on December 9 with "The Empty Nest" by Daniel Burman, winner of the Grand Jury Prize and a Silver Bear award in Berlin with the film "The Lost Embrace", and ended on December 13 with the national screening preview of Ron Howard's film, "Frost/Nixon".

All the films were presented at the Trevi Cinema Hall, the headquarters of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.

The exhibition mainly wanted to emphasize a kind of cinema research, focusing on the language used and the capacity of films to describe and understand the reality enlightening it.

Like every year, the program of the event included the presentation of Rivista del Cinematografo awards previously granted only to the big screen personalities, and personalities in the world of culture and film criticism.

The Film Festival Tertio Millennio is the first festival conducted under the auspices of the Vatican and is organized by the Foundation Ente dello Spettacolo and the Journal of Cinema, headed by Monsignor Dario Viganò.
