Perhaps no plan will work. I am working on an article relating the decline in the Irish (and Western) fertility rate with the decline in vocations. The grim reality is that just as governments refuse to see that contraception is killing their societies so many in the Church refuse to see that contraception is also killing the Church. Perhaps the whole system has to collapse before we can start again. Perhaps the Roman empire had to fall for the faith to spread further afield. Perhaps the West has to collapse before the Church can evangelise the rest of the world. Perhaps....

Te numbers are very alarming and i have surely seen the drastic declines in my 51 years too. That said, and while I agree that clear articulation of the faith is essential, something which I ttry to do, i wonder if Mr. V has a comprehensive plan. I think it is easy for all of us to criticize and speak of the problem but I wonder really if any of us know what to do? In my parish we go door to door, in this diocese there are five latin mass locations, most of our priests, especially the younger ones are very orthodox. But in the end the numbers just keep eroding. Praying for a miracle is about where I am at these days. Prayin....
