On June 6th for one hour, according to the website www.reflexionyliberacion.cl., pope Francis received the leaders of the Confederación Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Religiosas y Religiosos. During the informal meeting, he spoke about the Roman Curia saying “In the Curia there are holy people, really, holy people. But there is also a current of corruption.” And: “One speaks about a “gay lobby” and this is the truth, it is here, one has to see what we can do.” Amid requests for comment, the Vatican spokesman Fr Federico Lombardi told CNN that "It was a private meeting. I have no comment to make."

In the same meeting the Pope also said that he is worried about small and overaged religious communities who have no vocations. According to Francis they may have fulfilled their mission in the Church but they – quote – “remain attached to their buildings and to the money.”

Interesting that those religious institutes who have vocations and are still fulfillng their mission in the Church have remained faithful to Catholic life.

In the US:

Various monasteries are dying while Clear Creek, a foundation of Fontgombault, is flourishing.

The Jesuits are dying while the Fraternity of St Peter is flourishing.

Various Congregations of Dominican sisters are dying while the Nashville Dominicans are flourishing.
