"A piece of Spain," said Pope Benedict XVI, came on the evening of Saturday, Nov 26th, to visit the Paul VI audience hall, where a concert performance of the Symphony Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias was given in honour of the Holy Father. The concert was offered by the Government of the Principality and the Maria Cristina Foundation Masaveu Peterson. The music of two of the greatest Spanish composers, Manuel de Falla and Isaac Albéniz, was performed, along with a pair of compositions inspired by Spanish culture: "Don Juan" by Richard Strauss and the "Spanish Caprice" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
