The Church supports the efforts of Bosnia and Herzegovina to find its rightful place in the international context. This was underlined by Benedict XVI this morning upon receiving the credentials of Mrs Jasna Krivošic-Prpic, the ambassador to the Holy See. Benedict XVI retraced the recent history of violence and war that has characterized the new Balkans, reiterating his condemnation of all forms of violence. He assured the active support of the Church for the social growth and cultural development of Bosnia, precisely because the Christian world and the Catholic religion in particular serve as a leaven in the society.
He also called for a rapid agreement between Church and State on bilateral issues at the heart of the work of a particular commission.
