Easy Beatifications Continue: Paul VI who died in 1978 may be declared blessed. The Vatican Congregation for the Causes of Saints has ruled that the healing of an unborn California child through his intercession is inexplicable. Therefore his beatification could occur as early as in the next few months according to Vatican-Insider. Paul VI is the Pope who closed the Second Vatican Council in 1965. During the pontificate of Paul VI 70'000 priests were laicized and millions of Catholics left the faith.
Libertarian Money: On Monday, 50 Catholic educators signed a protest letter against the recent acceptance of a 1 million Dollar donation from the Charles Koch Foundation by The Catholic University of America. The foundation is affiliated with the libertarian Koch brothers. The signers complained about the Koch brothers' – quote - "anti-government, Tea Party ideology". But the university replied that the protests are driven by outsiders who have a political agenda.
In the Nazi Tradition: The German magazine "Der Spiegel" has a – quote - "great and proud tradition" of fighting against the Catholic Church according to Spiegel-author Jan Fleischhauer. Quote: “As long as the spirit of deceased Spiegel-founder Rudolf Augstein lives, there will be no cover story, where only a spark of good will be ascribed to the Catholic Church.” Augstein started as a journalist for a Nazi newspaper. Later he was an officer in the German Wehrmacht. After the war, many former SS officers were working for “Der Spiegel”, among them the SS superior of Adolf Eichmann.
Gloomy Christmas: The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal published his Christmas message. In it he declares that peace is hampered by the continuous building of Israeli settlements. And: “The demolition of a house of the Latin Patriarchate in East Jerusalem a few weeks ago are signs of a worsening situation.” The Patriarch noticed that this year there has been an increase in acts of vandalism carried out by Jewish extremists that affected some twenty holy places or places of worship.

He stops to watch the throngs of people giving money to the beggar who holds the Cross while none give to the beggar holding the Star of David. Finally, the Pope approaches the beggar with the Star of David and says, "My poor fellow, don't you understand? This is a Catholic country; this city is the Seat of Catholicism. People aren't going to give you money if you sit there with a Star of David in front of you, especially when you're sitting beside a beggar who is holding a Cross. In fact, they would probably give more money to him just out of spite." The beggar with the Star of David listened to the Pope, smiled, and turned to the beggar with the Cross and said, "Moishe, look who's trying to teach the Goldstein brothers about marketing!"
