Last autumn Archbishop Patrick Kelly allowed the Methodist to hold this July in his cathedral an ordination service. Last week the Vatican has ordered the archbishop to withdraw this invitation. While the immediate consequences of its decision will be painful for many clients and for some employees of Catholic Charities of Rockford, the long range effects will, I believe, be positive. Hopefully this bold decision will be repeated by other branches of Catholic Charities throughout the States until state legislatures and the Congress of the U.S. gets the message.

Catholic Charities of Rockford ends foster care, adoption services
On eve of civil unions, Catholic Charities ends foster care, adoption services to avoid serving same-sex parents.
"While we understand leaving this work will be very painful for our client families, employees, volunteers, donors and prayerful supporters, we can no longer contract with the state of Illinois whose laws would force us to participate in activity offensive to the moral teachings of the church — teachings which compel us to do this work in the first place," said Frank Vonch, director of social services for the Diocese of Rockford, which includes Kane and McHenry counties.

What a happy thing that it did NOT!! The Roman form of Chrisitanity, thanks to St Augustine, triumphed!

There is no excuse for a member of the Catholic hierarchy in Germany or anywhere else to make such an ill-conceived flippant remark. Obviously Karl Cardinal Lehmann is cut from the same Tradition-bad/Progressivism-good, ecumenical, ultra liberal cloth as Walter Cardinal Kasper.
Karl Lehmann not only unites himself to "the separated brethren" in exalting Luther, but he also unites himself to them in the denigration of the Catholic Church, her doctrine and her "very often unenlightened practices"18
