The SSPX has supplied jurisdiction due to the state of necessity in the Church (which Pope Benedict XVI admitted to Bishop Fellay actually existed); see www.sspx.org for details (sspx.org/SSPX_FAQs/q9_supplied_jur…).
In any case, so much for ecumenism and toleration towards all. If the children had been Muslims (or even Baptists), they probably would have been welcomed with open arms.

When I was in a Novus Ordo Youth Group (many years ago), we allowed non-Catholics to attend and participate and when it was suggested we regularly pray the rosary, the answer was: "Oh, we don't want to offend those who aren't Catholic." Well, I thought we were a *Catholic* group - guess not.

Denouncing the archbishop for "persecution" of the SSPX is going too far, even if his decision about who may participate in the "RC Challenge" can (possibly) be questioned. It is not in the same category as the public defilement of the picture of Christ in a vulgar and blasphemous French play. The French play was truly an attack on Christ and his Church. But, given the still unresolved irregular status of the SSPX , it may be wise to limit the "RC Challege" competition to members of archdiocesan parishes.

The Archbishop is probably afraid the SSPX children will probably win seeing how badly the Diocese teach the Faith.
