Opinion-poll made public: The formerly Old Rite Franciscans of the Immaculate published the results of a Vatican opinion-poll that lead to the removal of their superiors, Andrea Tornielli writes on Vatican Insider. 64 percent of the friars stated that the introduction of the Old Rite into the community had caused problems. 77 percent said that these problems could only be removed by an extraordinary chapter or by an exchange of the superiors. 61 percent complained about the style of government of the former superior and founder, Fr Stefano Manelli.

Likely to be harmful: In Vatican Insider, the Catholic U.S. philosopher Michael Novak criticized the interview of pope Francis. To use words like „obsession“ when describing pro-life work – quote – „hurts the faithful who have even risked their lives to protect life“ Novak said. For him the change of tone in Pope Francis’ words is likely to be harmful: „It puts many Christians on the defensive at a time when they are under attack.“ And quote: "At the same time, it encourages criticism against the Church by her declared adversaries." „It is enough to witness how the New York Times has twisted the words of the pope“, Novak added.

Beside themsleves with glee: Commenting on Pope Francis’ interview, Roger McCaffrey, president of the publishing house Roman Catholic Books, stated that now "the Catholic left, and the entire political left are beside themselves with glee". Quote: "Francis appears to refer to two of the most evil developments in human history: the mass organized killing of the unborn, half a billion in number, and the juggernaut of political victories since Obama took office in 2008 that attempt to normalize and mainstream abnormal sexual behavior as 'issues' that can be over-stressed," McCaffrey told Newsmax.

Former Melbourne priest Greg Reynolds, a vocal supporter of women's ordination, has been excommunicated. He was excommunicated for throwing away the consecrated host and for „speaking publicly against church teaching“. Melbourne archbishop Dennis Hart said that Reynolds' support of women's ordination was the primary reason for the measure. In the last two years Reynolds has also attended rallies advocating same-sex marriage and has officiated at gay weddings En masse on the steps of the Parliament. He founded the group „Inclusive Catholics“to promote women's ordination and homosexuality. In August 2012 a story in The Age reported that during a Reynold's Eucharist event, a dog received Communion.

There's so much talk out there about pope Francis. Even if the liberal clergy don't think he's quite what they'd like in a pope, he has given them enough rope to play with in order for them to push their heretical beliefs. The next 6 mos should also be interesting. Heaven help us all.
