“Mission in Asia: Pope John Paul II and Francis” was the title of a conference at Rome’s Urbaniana University. Church leaders from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Iraq and South Korea offered their perspectives, expectations, but also challenges for the Church in the Far East. Pope Francis made a huge impact on South Korea when he visited earlier this year. Many of the Bishops and Cardinals were impressed by his message. One topic was central: entering into conversation with others. The Pope obviously has a lot of hopes for the Church in Asia. He’ll be going back in January of 2015, this time to Sri Lanka and the Philippines
