Following Christ in the Dominican Order.
Twenty-one novices entered the Dominican Province of St. Joseph in August of 2010 and were vested with the habit of our Holy Father, Saint Dominic. Eight novices who had entered in 2009 made their simple profession of vows at that same time and are continuing their initial formation at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. Please pray the grace of perseverance for these young Dominican friars.

Faith and Reason: Friends or Foes?

Fr. Brent follows the line of thought of "Fides et Ratio"(Faith and Reason), in which Pope John Paul II observed that, "Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth-in a word, to know himself-so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves."

Fr. Jacob Restrick, O.P. has served the Dominican Province of St. Joseph (Eastern USA) as an itinerant preacher, retreat preacher, prior, pastor, and most recently, as chaplain to our nuns in West Springfield (MA), Elmira (NY), and Buffalo (NY). In the province of St. Joseph, there are 12 monasteries of cloistered nuns, dedicated to the salvation of souls and supporting the friars' preaching by lives consecrated to prayer.
