Fears and doubts paralyze (today) the disciples of the Lord
Liturgy of April 14th - Third Sunday of Easter
Dear brothers and sisters, one of the challenges that the Church has to face at the beginning of the third millennium, especially in the Western world, is to understand the nature of the difficulty that Christian communities experience in transmitting the faith to new generations and finding appropriate solutions. In fact, the Church teaches us that we do not find ourselves living in an era of change, but in a change of era that sows fear, uncertainty and confusion in the hearts of many. However, a Christian who diluted the gospel to adapt it to the ideologies, fashions and slogans of the moment would not be doing a good service either to the Church of Christ nor to the world. A Christian who had doubts about the truth of the Gospel and its saving power would be a useless Christian... The solution to overcome the impasse is shown to us in the Gospel of Sunday, April 14: putting Jesus back at the center of the Christian community and humbly allow ourselves to be catechized by the Risen Lord so that he may opens our eyes, illuminates our minds and purifies our hearts. At His "school", in fact, fears disappear and doubts dissolve...
